No. The Edge to Edge display is offered for the Covet only, which only comes in the blood orange color. I suppose it would be possible to mod on to a regular silver base, but that would void your warranty and all that jazz.

I've seen a few on their outlet. Some are matte, some are "glossy," or "edge to edge." No idea where those come from since you can only choose the matte screen using the small business configurator.

I know it was when it came out. Back at the launch the M6500 had ATI and Nvidia options, so that should still be the same. What version of Autocad was out in Dec 2009? Autocad 2010? Hopefully the issues with 2011 will be worked out soon. I know how frustrating this stuff can be. Adobe Creative Suite 5 had so many memory leak issues that I had to roll back to CS4 while I waited for patches.

What you are probably seeing is the M6400. The M6400 silver RGB panel was offered in both flavors, matte and E2E glass. The M6500 silver RGB was never offered with E2E.

    Hope that helps.

As far as I've ever been able to tell, just the paint job (blood orange) and the edge to edge screen (which is standard, I believe). It was also the first to come out with USB 3.0, but the silver version got the daughter card soon after as well.

I got my M6500 in this Jan and it works good however these days, I found a problem: the speaker will automatic switch off ! And when I click the speaker icon which is at right bottom side , I could not adjust it. I try to go to the "Sound properties" in control panel, it tells me there is no audio hardware.
I have to restart it again and the sound will come back. Is there anyone know the reasons? I am using the latest audio driver

Also the Covet comes standard with the Quadro 3800 and only has options for quad core i7 processors (no i5 and no i7-6xx); you can read "standard" and "no options" interchangeably; some might argue it's a bad thing but I imagine Dell figured it it's the top of the line, it should be configured with the top of the line components no questions asked; I can respect that.

For me the orange and the E2E were exactly what I wanted in terms of aesthetics; basically I was drooling over that laptop since the first time I saw the pics of the silver and orange M6500's side by side.... so I had to get the Covet. (Yes I am aware that the M6400 loooked the same but I never saw one and as such my first time being acquainted with photos of this chassis were of the M6500)

I love the look of E2E screens and don't want to buy another laptop without it... on a 17" laptop that screen is just gorgeous to look at. All those other specs are just secondary for me :)
