Yes, but will it operate in the M6500?

Should fit, form factor is same as the NVIDIA Quadro FX 3800M and 2800M.

Yes, 2010 works without any glitches!... That's fine, no hurry to reach 2011, I'm old enough already as it is. Now I can love my computer.

One small thing that's bugging me though, doesn't effect performance, it's just a little irritating... If I hit my return key with speed it squeeks... anyone else encountered this, is there is simple solution?

The M6500 has a proprietary video card that means is different shape and connector the one on the Nvidia site is an MXM 3.0 B or standard design it would fit many other machines including the HP 8740w workstation at some point Dell will release the FX5000M but i don't know when

To all M6500 owners with USB 2.0 -- has anyone attempted to inquire / find out about upgrading to USB 3.0 daughtercard from Dell?

I spoke to support and (after a brief hold) was told that it cannot be done and won't work with my motherboard.

I have a Covet with the i7-920XM (quad core, which is apparently a different board) and my understanding was that the daughtercard is the same?

I am willing to pay for the part but was wondering if anyone knew this. Also just to confirm (I will scourge this thread when I get home from work for Bokeh's photos of the daughtercard) that you don't lose the eSata port.

If anyone has some info as to how to accomplish this, it would be greatly appreciated. I can post my build specs w/part numbers if it will help.

Dont worry man, few weeks ago, my audio port got some problem and dell replaced a left IO board with USB 3.0 ports to me and it is still connecting with my old motherboard. I used to open a thread regarding the part number for left I.O board (http://forum.notebookreview.com/del...42-usb-3-0-i-o-board-m6500-available-now.html) I think you can buy one from dell but you need to install by yourself.
By the way, I uninstall the audio driver and it works fine now. Thanks !

I replaced my SSD's last night! Also have 2 more DIMMs on order as well - will have to remove the keyboard for that one.

Until recently I wasn't willing to even do any of this, but since watching the Dell tech replace my hinge cover w/fingerprint reader it really isn't that bad. He had to remove the keyboard in order to replace the damaged flat cable that connects the FIPS fingerprint reader, and this is when we saw the two other empty DIMM slots.

Debguy will be proud of me since I was really unconfortable with this not more than a month or so ago and had posted about it.

I did a clean OS install this morning and installed all the Dell drivers immediately; after installing the Wireless 365 module drivers I was able to connect my mouse and cell phone to the M6500. If you have the "Dell UWB 420" drivers this is not the same thing - it's wireless USB which seems kind of redundant to having BT.

I have no idea if the order makes a difference, but I installed drivers in the following order:

    TEXAS-INSTRUMENTS_PCI8412-ME_A03_R247353
    SYNAPTICS_JOG-SHUTTLE_A06_R280879
    Dell Wireless 365 Bluetooth - R235168
    DELL UWB 420 WirelessUSB - R251606
    Dell_ControlPoint-Security-D_A18_R269916
    DELL_CONTROLPOINT-SECURITY-M_A18_R276445
    nVidia_multi-device_A04_R283412

However I still get an error when trying to enroll fingerprints

[Edit] FWIW the BT never worked out of the box, I don't think the 365 driver was installed - only the 420 which would never find discoverable BT devices, not even my BT mouse which I imagine should qualify as a WirelessUSB device; so I really don't know what devices one would pair with the 420 module.

I installed my own Intel X-25 SSD when I first bought my M6500. I found it to be really easy to work with compared to my previous Alienware M15x also from Dell. The panels all slide out easily and the back panel is just one removable piece giving you access to all the internals! ^_^
