Of course it has the same chipset. Nobody changes the chipset in an established laptop model. But is it actually shipping with 32GB or are you just claiming that it is capable to support them? If you only claim that, what is your reason to believe that it does support 32GB? If you actually ship it with 32GB, which BIOS does it use?
What I know is, that the M6500 with BIOS A00/04 does not support 32GB of RAM. So something must be different in the one you just shipped.

If I had a DB that could actually benefit from 32GB of RAM I surely wouldn't use MySQL to run it. I'd use PostgreSQL or (since money obviously doesn't matter) Oracle.

I have a bluetooth mouse compulsion, and I have owned almost all of them. I have never had any issues with incompatibilities with any BT chipset/mouse combination.

My current favorite is the Microsoft Memory Mouse 8000.
    Mobile Memory Mouse 8000
I require a 5-button mouse for browsing and CAD work, which narrows the bluetooth mouse field even more.

I also love the size of the Dell travel mouse.

Only downside is that is feels somewhat cheap, it kind of rattles and shakes.

I also have the Microsoft presenter mouse, and a Bluetooth 5000. They are quite small, but that is a positive in my book. The other great thing about Microsoft mice is the software allows for progrram-specific mouse button actions. Also a CAD requirement for me.

If you decide you can live with a small USB dongle, the Logitech mice are also fantastic. The micro receiver can be left in all the time, and the free-spinning wheels are fun and useful.

Hello! Yep, my "slim" power supply stopped working a couple of times (disconnect it from the mains and computer solved it temporarily, but it came back).
Also it made an annoying buzzing sound which sounded lika a small fan full of dust and crap, this with and without the computer being connected.

I called Dell's support and it was exchanged the next day. The new one works without problems so far (for about a month now)..

Other than this and the somewhat oversaturated colours of the RGBled screen my M6500 has been working perfectly.

Since you can order the machine from Dell with 32GB of RAM, one might expect it to support that amount of memory, don't you think? In particular given the fact that the customer has spent roughly an extra ten grand (yep, that's $10,000 for you) on that memory...

Mysterious problem….Dell can’t seem to help so any words of wisdom would be much appreciated.

    I have a M6500 Covet, equipped with USB3, 8GB, and the i7 920XM processor, NVIDIA 3800M, and Dell Wireless 365 Bluetooth Module running Windows 7 64-bit. I also have an E-Port Plus 210/w dock.

When my computer is docked and I have a monitor plugged into the DisplayPort on the dock, Bluetooth will not function. More than that, it would appear to be missing entirely from device manager. Going into the device manager, I don’t see any Bluetooth Radios. If I disconnect the Displayport connection and instead use DVI, Bluetooth radios are visible. For my application, I need both DisplayPort and Bluetooth to be working – has anyone seen this?

I am running the latest BIOS and have the current release of all drivers installed. Having said that, I wouldn’t think it would be a driver issue, if it was, I would expect to see the device but in a non-working state. As the device is gone entirely from the device manager I am not sure where to take this. Thoughts?

No I'm not claiming it, I'm shipping it right now. Customers have already received their systems configured with 32GB of 1333MHz memory. :) I'm shipping it with the same BIOS, A04, that you can download from the support.dell.com site today.

    VeryOldGuy,

Thanks for the suggestion. I ran all of the diagnostics last night, and they all passed. The laptop will not recognize my bootable USB, so I guess I will try a bootable CD next. If I can't update the BIOS, then I'll try the Win 7 reinstallation. If that doesn't get me past the BSOD, then it will have to be exchanged. Doesn't Dell test refurbished laptops before they are purchased? I am amazed that they sent out a non-bootable machine.

Ok, then please explain this output (you can reproduce it with every Linux Live CD that has dmidecode installed):
    Code:
    root@debian# dmidecode | grep 'Physical Memory Array' -A 6
    Physical Memory Array
    	Location: System Board Or Motherboard
    	Use: System Memory
    	Error Correction Type: None
    	Maximum Capacity: 16 GB
    	Error Information Handle: Not Provided
    	Number Of Devices: 4
I have seen dmidecode correctly report the capacity on servers with 32GB of RAM. So if what you say is true the only explanation I see is that the M6500 BIOS reports a wrong value, which should be fixed.

Sigh... Who cares what some dinky little program you dug out somewhere reports? Why would anybody in his/her right mind be interested in wasting time explaining the output of this piece of code? I'm afraid you'll have to figure this one out yourself if you are the one person who must know. For the rest of us, all that matters is that the system supports and properly works with 32GB of memory.

    Let it go.

P.S.: There are (at least) two possible explanations.
