They are all messed up at this moment and I think they need to get their act together. They are all over the board with answers.

The Covet which they tout as their FLAGSHIP WORKSTATION LAPTOP is actually less configurable than the M6400 Non-Covet. I think they need to look to Webster for the definition of COVET.

The site also says no USB 3 for the Covet and still no 64BIT OS.

I called my contact and she said she can get both. But she is not the normal rep so I can't help you out with that. They are dealing with me internally on another issue and they are helping me out with what I need for this Laptop. I told her no 64Bit OS she says she can make that happen as well as USB 3.0. I am just debating if I just want to go with the Silver Carbide and Anti-Glare.

Now if you go on their site - both systems offer no 64BIT OPTIONS.

I tell you. I hope its really a database issue. On the Security option it use to say None as an option now it doesn't have that now.

I got my m6500 about three to four weeks after ordering it, which made it late for just one day to the initially shown delivery date. No problems at all with that machine - I did a clean Win7 x64 install myself.

I guess that unlucky users tend to search the web and post stuff at a much higher rate than happy users. So I guess that there are much more m6500 deliveries without any problems than delivieries with problems.

    Don't worry, wait happy :)

I get a quote for a Covet M6500 with 64 bit Win 7 Ultimate thru the rep though, so I think the Covet can be config with 64 bit

    Hi theZoid,
I saw you have Intel 6300 in your M6500. Did you install it yourself or you had Dell installed. Thanks

I installed it in about 5 minutes....on this Precision it's very easy....it just pops in like a ram chip with one screw to hold it down, and 3 wires that pop on. You have to manually install the drivers for it as it seems Win 7 doesn't do it yet automatically for some reason. BABYHEMI on this forum sells them new OEM for 38 bux shipped.....PM him just like I spelled it if you want one. It's worthwhile and not marketing hype IMO :)

Thanks for your quick reply. I ordered the M6500 with the exact config as the one you have in your sig. the only difference is the Intel 5300.

    Mrmomoman / All,

I noticed you mentioned pros/cons of the ‘Glossy Screen (E2E) vs RGBLED AntiGlare. This will be my first laptop purchase as I normally use/build workstation and servers. The primary purpose of this system will be for a mobile lab supporting VMware. I will not be using the system to watch movies or play games and my profession does not involve photo editing.

That being said, I’d rather the screen not be too reflective or “Glossy”. So, is the E2E configured with the Covet the “Glossy” screen with the M6500 standard being able to support standard LCD?

The current M6500 screen options as follows:

    WUXGA RGBLED Display Options

17" Wide Screen WUXGA RGBLED LCD Panel w/ integrated camera and mic
17" Wide Screen WUXGA RGBLED LCD Panel w/ microphone

    WUXGA Display Options

17" Wide Screen WUXGA LCD Panel w/ integrated camera and microphone
17" Wide Screen WUXGA LCD Panel w/ microphone

    WXGA+ Display Options

17" Wide Screen WXGA+ LCD Panel w/ integrated camera and microphone
17" Wide Screen WXGA+ LCD Panel w/ microphone

Being a bit of a novice when it comes to laptop screens, are the options above using Anti-Glare or not “Glossy”?

What is the main difference between the 17" Wide Screen WXGA+ LCD Panel and 17" Wide Screen WUXGA RGBLED LCD Panel?

    Thanks in advance to all.
