    All,

I’m about to purchase a standard M6500 and have a question about the (3) hard drive configuration and possible limitations. I’ve read various posts within this thread which seem to indicate one is unable to order the M6500 with (3) HDs unless using a form of RAID.

I’ve confirmed on the Dell website when configuring the system you have to select a form of RAID in order to have the system arrive as follows:

    (1) 64GB SSD Minicard Drive (Primary)
    (1) 256GB SSD
    (1) 256GB SSD

    Questions:

Upon arrival, are we able to rebuild the OS (Windows 7 64-Bit) thus disabling RAID in the event we’d like to have the OS installed on the 64GB primary SSD and use the (2) additional SSDs as independent drives or is there an actual limitation in the BIOS?

I wanted to verify if the RAID requirement upon order was a limitation in ordering and not a limitation within the hardware/software of the system.
Anyone have this type of (3) HD configuration without RAID?

Is there value add in upgrading the standard support to ProSupport for IT and NBD Onsite Service and/or CompleteCare Accidental Damage Protection? Anyone actually had to utilize either of these and experience compared to the same event using the standard warranty?

    Thanks in advance.

Can anyone recommend a fast 4 port wireless N router for the Intel 5300 in my 6500? I'm using an old Linksys W54g and considering an upgrade. Most of the reviews/reports I've seen are pretty old.

    Thanks in advance,

    John

It's really an awesome router...especially in house where my son and I want to connect at 5ghz, and the other two at 2.4 :)

Well, after calling Customer service yesterday it looks like I will be keeping the next new Machine provided it doesn't have any issues. This will be the 3rd 6500 covet I have had and am hopeing it will be free of issues like my 4 year old XP m1210.

The only reason I stayed is Dell offered to compinsate me for all the trouble I have had to deal. Probably only because they saw my name on about 5 new machines that I have ordered in the last 2 months. All Precisions and none of them have had the issuses this covet has.

I thought I'd comment on this. I have a 4 y.o. 1210 that has been to h*ll and back and never a single problem- it's now the fulltime navigation computer on my sailboat.
I'm really sorry to hear about all your problems, surely someone will wake up at Dell and do right by you, it's insane that you have all this hassle.

For now I'll just have to keep playing with my new HTC EVO 4G android until the replacement arrives.
