I'm quite excited that the machine has a minipcie slot for a miniSSD drive.

Is the minipcie slot used already used by any device on the M6500 and will it take a full size minipcie card?

It seems like a great way of keeping a nice RAID 0 for storage and having the OS on a little 32GB SSD. :D

i cant really see the benefit of using raid 0 just for storage , you would be better just leaving the drives out of raid soif the array fails you dont lose all your data

otherwise i too am looking forward to using a small minipcie ssd for temp files and pagefile etc , i doubt they will use a ssd that is fast enough for my tastes to host the os but i can hope they do !

I totally agree. I have a lot of bad experiences with using raid 0 for storage. IMO it's like driving without insurance, during winter, in Wisconsin. :D

But isn't that more or less what the eSATA is for? 2TB external harddrive :)

That is atleast what I'm considering of getting ... 2xSSD drives in RAID0 and then a huge external hdd for the rest + monthly backup :)

Ok i've decided because of the controversy of my original WEI memory scores that my xmas present to you all is to reopen the notebook and put only the 2x2GB factory installed memory chips and redo the test:

    Factory Installed Samsung 2x2GB DDR3 1333mhz = 5.9
    G.Skill 1x4GB DDR3 1333mhz = 5.9

Ok so that is the story. Upgrading from 4GB to 8GB makes the difference

Thank you! That will help some of us feel more at ease with ordering the "stock" RAM.

By the way, as near as I can tell, the "new" 210W power supply is a "slim" design. Can anyone that has received an M6500 with the 210W power supply verify this?

Wow! Excellent price. This price is so much lower than what I paid online that I wonder if the sales rep made a mistake? If you can get this deal, go for it!
