Wow, thanks for this information - I wanted to say you're wrong as a machine I bought late last year had a three year warranty but unfortunately you're right (unfortunately in the sense I'd have preferred they still had three year warranties). I've been looking into getting a Latitude for a friend and the three year warranty was one of the main reasons I wanted a Latitude as that gives good piece of mind, good thing you pointed that out though. It seems £50 more for the three year warranty which as you say is reasonable but it's something to factor into the costs.

Edit: I see from the other thread, the E5xxx series that have the reduced warranty and the E7xxx series still come with three year warranties

completely disable your other drive when installing to wwan

I had Ubuntu grub efi installed on 2.5". When I first tried installing windows to wwan, windows efi picked up my Ubuntu grub on 2.5" and wrote on boot partition on 2.5" instead of creating a new booot partition on wwan

Sigh. Stupid windows(Ubuntu could have same issue, not sure)

Benefits of efi - you can manually add an efi path to the boot order, so it fine if both grub.efi and windows.efi exists in the same folder (as long as they don't override/delete the other during installation)

As John said, disable unnecessary stuff in bios

Mine typically boots fast (1-2s to Dell logo, a few seconds more to bootloader)

Very rarely it's slow (only when I had to force reboot from misbehaving Linux when doing some experiential stuff)

Don't remember BIOS settings. Need to check

Received the 5470 yesterday. I am disappointed because there are two things that are missing. The dummy SD card and the keyboard pointer cap (the circular rubber cap). I called Dell and they wouldn't ship just the two parts. They offered me to return it for a refund.
Big WTF? That is poor customer service. Screw them, they can have it back. They are willing to lose more money on shipping it back and probably lose a bit more when they re-sell it.

I have to say that kind of customer service sounds uncharacteristic of Dell. I'd recommend trying again. The E5450 had some scratches on the back panel and the keyboard was a little sunken in. They sent a guy with parts to fix it the next day. I'm sure they will send you the keyboard and a sd card blank.

I was surprised too because I have always had good experience with their CS before. But I am not trying again. I don't have time to go back and forth with them.
