This thread was created long before the naming convention for the new line was made public. Hence the confusion. There will be no M6900.

I just noticed the other day that (at least some) high-end Inspirons (7000 series) do come with dual cooling…

I do trust the few respectable reviewers out there with regard to, say, noise or temperatures, or the quality of the display—those are all measurable phenomena. But reviews tend to be terribly useless with regard to keyboard feel.
If the keyboard feel is important, then there’s no substitute for trying it out oneself, even if on a slightly different model using the same or similar keyboard part.

You’re obviously right overall, but as for mobile-workstation segment, I believe Lenovo was distant third, with something like 8% share, last time I checked.

Yeah, sure wish I could get my hands on a new 7710 to see how it looks and feels in person before buying it. They should display them at Microsoft stores or open a "Dell" retail store (actual walk in store I mean).

Lenovo could never compete with HP/DELL warranties. The NBD in-home fixes are worth their weight in gold and Lenovo could never provide this.

IF its true they are now (or will be) offering NBD warranty fixes and IF they can resist adding more spyware to the OS and IF they can avoid a repeat of crappy CPU cooling via the the W series, then they might start taking share from HP and DELL.

I honestly hope they do, there is nothing like good steady competition to help innovation and keep prices realistic.
