Still no Start Menu, for starters; pun intended. And, no, a smaller Start Screen doesn't equal a Start Menu; what's missing is the hierarchical organization. Happens to be important to me. Sure, I can install a third-party utility to get a Start Menu, but I detest having to do that. I also really dislike having to do all these tweaks and fixes to get rid of the various intrusive stuff you allude to, ads in the "Start Menu", the list goes on.

No, I'm dead serious as far as staying with Win7 is concerned. Windows 10 offers nothing I'm interested in, but takes away things I like. Why would I go there? Windows 7 is just fine for what I need. The next Precision I order will come and be used with Windows 7, guaranteed.

Regarding switching to Apple, yes, that's a bit on the dramatic side. I really have next to no experience with their machines, and I might well curse a decision to jump ship to move to OS X very soon after doing so.

You are obviously failing to differentiate media consumption and media creation. 16:10 allows you to edit full res 16:9 content and still have the toolbars (creation). 16:9? CROPPED (obviously consumption). I have no issues that my TV set is 16:9, but I'm not using it for work you know.

    Press release: http://www.dell.com/learn/us/en/uscorp1/press-releases/2015-10-01-new-dell-precision-workstations
    "Coming soon" page: http://www.dell.com/learn/us/en/04/campaigns/coming-soon-from-dell-precision

Light on technical details. Release window is "early Q4 2015" (i.e. any time now). Does confirm mobile Xeon, Thunderbolt 3, and M.2 PCIe SSD support.

Also, it looks like there will be two new docks, a regular dock and a Thunderbolt-attached one. Because Thunderbolt is essentially an extension of the PCI Express bus and can also carry a separate video signal, a Thunderbolt attached dock will perform much butter than a USB attached one. Both docks will include USB Type C and Thunderbolt connectors. Not sure if the system proper also includes a USB Type C connector, it doesn't say specifically but it does say "the latest USB technology".

Yes, the release is very light on specifics. But when you click on that "Coming soon" page, then hats off to Dell, she does look good - very sleek and understated. But frankly I am more interested in the technical details and what options are available for each machine (mainly the M7710).

At last we have some news!

Thunderbolt 3 uses the same connector as USB 3.1, a type C connector. If you have Thunderbolt 3 you have USB 3.1 but not the other way around. A USB 3.1 systems doesn't support Thunderbolt 3.

The design of the 7000 series reminds me somewhat of the old HP's of the 8760/8770W series, at least from this side view photo I've found.

Now with more photos available, I can see that on the inside it's typically Dell black so not as cool looking as those old HP's, unfortunately :)

Thanks for sharing that link, ygohome.

I absolutely love that infinity edge display. That screen alone may be enough to tempt me to buy the 5510 rather than the 7710 which is better suited to my needs, and more powerful as well. Decisions, decisions.... :)

I may be alone in this but the big thing I want in my next Precision laptop is a matte-finish or anti-glare screen!

Yes, I know that a matte screen will take away from the great color reproduction and accuracy but after a few hours starring at all that glare, I justcan't take it anymore. Give me a laptop without glare and I can hook it up to a high-res QHD+ monitor when I need to. Other times, such as when I am on a plane or a client's office with bright overhead lights, I would much rather have an anti-glare screen.

Any hope for that option with the Dell Precision 15 7000?
