That makes zero sense. Precision has always had the best cooling. Lenovo is taughting the "revolutionary" dual fan cooling that I have had in every Precision since the M90 back in 2006. HP is still using a single fan in their systems. Precision has always been overbuilt to avoid throttling going back several (I think 7?) generations. I think the sales rep was just pulling something out of thin air.

There is no way I'll ever consider getting a new Precision if there isn't an IPS screen option. HP and the new Lenovo P70 are my only choices right now for a 17" with a docking port.

Asked about IPS screens and got this reply from a very high level Dell contact " As of Dec 2014 all panels on the currently shipping products are IPS for FHD panels or IGZO for UHD. "

I had missed that switch from TN to IPS on the existing systems.

That's quite misinformation as well. IGZO is the substrate (the one that was used up until now, and still used in most panels is aSi), the underlying technology could still be TN or IPS and not to mention the back-light.

That is what I was wondering too. Did they go to IPS panels with WLED backlights? That would get the viewing angles up, but not necessarily the gamut. I will ask for clarification.

EDIT - Yes, IPS screens with 72% gamut since Dec 2014.

IGZO does let like 30% more light, so you can get higher gamut even with WLED.
