I think, Dell release new workstation at the end of this year packed with Intel 5th generation Core i7/i5, Nvidia Quadro on maxwell, Thunderbolt and, I hope, IGZO 10-bit panel. This would be an excellent machine for me:)

Wow great job Jelges. I want to do that to my m4300 too. Where did you get the 2010 revision of the fx360m? At the same time I need to replace the double-stacked USB ports too. What heat sink or copper shim did you use when you put it back together?

bumping thread because I'm excited for the m6900 (or whatever they name it).

I'm still hoping there will be a newer high end mobile Quadro released with it. A 2nd Gen Maxwell or maybe even Pascal archetecture? I think there is currently only one mobile Quadro with Maxwell and it is the k2200m (1ST gen Maxwell GM107). The others are all Keplar based.

Still no news from Dell about a successor of the M6800 (AKA M6900)?

You would expect at least some hint or rumors around this time.

Yeah, I wish a rough timeline or some ETA or something like... waiting till after Intel SkyLake or ____Lake... or waiting on Nvidia for next gen Quadro certification... or waiting on latest PCIe SSD interface, etc

Throw us a bone Dell. the anticipation is killing me

I talked to my Dell representative a couple of months ago about a M6800 replacement and the reply was October 2015

That would be great! Here is something else I'm wishing for... 64 GB RAM using four 16GB like these from Intelligent Memory.

    http://www.intelligentmemory.com/dram-modules/ddr3-so-dimm/

Those are ddr3 though and I think the next gen dell will probably support only next gen DDR4. But I'm sure 64GB in a laptop should be just around the corner... Maybe even in the next dell. Fingers crossed.

Current Broadwell laptops can take those sticks, well some have been confirmed to take em, so it should work for others. Looking good on that front.

Sounds like that's the next gen M3800, based off of the new XPS 15.
