Som,eone told me yesterday a 4k screen from the 7710 can fit into the m6800 with an edp board. Anyone ever tried it?

I would love to put a 4k screen in my m6800 too...but I don't think it is doable.

The 7710 uses the newer form factor for LCD screens that is different than the one used in the m6800
The 7710 screens look like this:

And the m6800 screens look like this

The 7710 circuit board is partially below the screen, while the m6800 is behind it, so I don't think it will fit inside the display enclosure. The screw holes are in different places too - the m6800 keeps those on the side but the newer style screens have those tabs on the corners you see in the picture.

Not to mention the issue of having enough bandwidth for a 4k screen...the m6800's that have eDP probably don't have enough lanes for it, but I'm not sure about the LVDS M6800's.

Upgraded to EDP Board with EDP Touch from LVDC Board with LVDS touch.... it seems a little nicer ... however pinch zoom still not very functional in ubuntu. I was curious.... why did dell even include EDP Port in m6800? What was the point when we have no hi resolution screens?

I think this was on early boards. They probably planned to offer RGB LED screens like on M6700, but had too many complaints on those LG screens so decided to drop them in the end.

I actually think the LVDS where the Early Boards and the EDP where on the later boards......... So you are saying the EDP can upgrade to pascal and lvds ccant?

System update: I have finally switeched to and EDP mother board and EDP covet edition screen and cover. I also switched the case to red to match the cover. ITs so fast now and comfortable to use. I also updated my m4810 to an m 4940 mx.... It is awesome. I can tell the difference in daily use with ubuntu gnome....... And it runs cooler. Along with the recent m3000m, I am a happy computer guy. The filco Masjestouch convertible 2 mx blue is great. I ven found a mini pci encryption module from an m4800 I put into it. I havent figured out how to make it do anything yet in linux, aling with the wireless gps card. I love this. looking forward to a pascal card one day. Someone tell me if its working with the EDP board. Why you guys so quiest? Dont you love your m6800 like I do? MAybe you should stop using windows.

Actually I did, and switched from the lvds to edp touch screen. Unfortutnately , tehee is still a cable needed and touch input is not sent through the edp caple as I have heard it was capable.
