Two e-dock problems seem to have disappeared:
    - An external USB 3 disk attached to my e-port dock would prevent the m6800 to boot
    - A head set (line in/out) connected to the e-port sometimes did not function after resume from hibernate

A18 bios not showing in Dell Cmd update

Also, can someone confirm if the eSata port is 6GB/s? Second, can I boot from it?

It is 6 Gbps on the M6800, but 3 Gbps on prior generations. Yes, you can boot from it, it shows up just like any other SATA drive to the system.
[Edit] Actually I was thinking about the mSATA. I'm not sure about the eSATA.

Anyone seen a edp version of the Touchscreen? I switched from a non touch to touchscreen. I personally find it awesome, but had to give up my edp.

the 550 vs 600 nit and contrast difference was noticeable and uncomfortable dowgrade, but touch is great.

Was wondering if anyone has seen an edp version? I know that edp sends touch signal through the EDP cable...

Perhaps there are some additional benefits and better screen quality, multitouch use in ubuntu.

Cant believe the newer precision's dont offer 17" touch screen.

Has anyone tried putting a m290x from the old Alienware 17 in one of these? Or maybe a w7170m (if anyone can even find one)

You can install a 3.0a card in a 3.0b slot.

I just wanted to report that I successfully installed a m3000m graphic card into my m6800 upgrading from the m2000m I was using. My glmark2 scores in ubuntu are now 7966 up from 6200 on the m2000m, useing the latest 4.10.3 mainline kernel in gnome. Currently running 3x1980 screens 2xdvi & 1 vga. Graphic switching disabled. Everything seems to be working well in Gnome.

Anyone compare the difference between the EDP and non-edp version of the touchscreen? I recently sitched machines from an EDP machine with a FHD non-touch to a LVDS with touchscreen. I use the touch screen often when teaching, so it is useful. I can notice the difference in the brightness and contrast between the screens... the non-touch liiked about 10% better imho.

I understand the EDP touchj will send the touch input through the EDP cable, rather than use an extra cable.

    I wonder:

Will the multitouch capabilities work better in linux? PInch zoom doesnt work in Linux

and is the visual quality better on the EDP touch than the lvds touch?
