As for correct slot - actually, i've try both, mSata dedicated slot and WWAN, with same results.
Currently waiting for Samsung 840 mSata to try it.

I was thinking maybe RAID mode suppose be activated in BIOS...

    Hey

I've used a Plextor M5M (firmware 1.03 and 1.05) in my M6800, placed in the msata slot without any problems.
    Bios configured to AHCI
    Windows 7 installed.

    Best regards

    256 GB version yes.

    Regarding my above error description:
I ran the Diagnostics and got a Thermal error (108 degrees celcius) on one of the SODIMM sensors and it turned out to be a faulty motherboard.

I suspected memory latency to be the problem. But makes sense that the fans tried to cool Down the machine with the above readout. Maybe the cpu went into throttling mode.

    But problems solved now.

    Best regards

Why do you need a heat sink? Are you planning to replace or upgrade a component?

It says on the auction I won the M6800 for " 64MB onboard Intel video (slot for add-on card but none present) "
I just assuming it does not have one there atm.
    I plan on putting a GTX 765M in there until I can put a 780M or a 870M in there :)

I can purchase a GTX 580M for same price as the GTX 765M would be better off getting the 580M for performance?

    G.Skill 4 * 8Gb 1600 running just fine with no issues

As for my previous posts - issue was with this particular Plextor 256M5M and that particular M6800. Now running fine with Samsung EVO 512Mb. Also tested with OCZ Nocti 128gb.

I was looking for a new laptop for college (software dev) and the M6800 popped up as a contender. I can't seem to find anywhere on Dell's site though to order one with anything higher than the K3100 or the FHD touch screen (options do not appear to be available). Has anyone ordered a new system with these features in the past month?

i'm considering to buy M6800 after M17xR3 failed, but with a few cases mentioning M6800 CPU temperature might go over 90C in full load like review from notebookcheck and this case of 98C:DELL M6800 CPU Throttling - Spiceworks
i got a bit hesitate and wonder if thermal repaste could cure this. i do need work full load for sometime.
