It's worth noting that on my M6800 with the 7260 from the factory, the 3rd antenna is installed and just tucked up right beside the wifi card slot. It's all there and ready to go should you want it later. It makes sense from a production standpoint, as since they offer the intel 6300 and the dell 1601 they have to have the 3rd antenna in at least some models, and the wire costs practically nothing. It's cheaper to make them all the same.

My M6800 came with an Intel 7260 from the factory, but had only 2 wifi antennas installed. No loose wifi antenna leads near the wifi card slot. It did have a couple of antennas in the WWAN slot, but I'm not sure if these could be used for wifi. My knowledge of antennas is limited.

Another M6800, that came with a Dell 1601 from the factory, had a third (blue) antenna lead in addition to the 2 (gray and white) leads that are in the M6800 with the Intel 7260.

The antenna leads in my M6700, with Intel 6300 wifi card, were black, gray and white.

I agree that it's probably cheaper to make them all the same, but Dell does differentiate between the WiGig and non-WiGig back cover.

Look on the left side (as you're looking at it when you have the back off and the palmrest toward you) and I bet it's there. It's a black wire, and it's tucked into a small groove/cut out in the bottom of the body. If you can't find it I'll take a picture of it on mine and see if that helps.

Does anyone know if there are current discounts available for the M6800, at this time? Not talking about the paper sales (or perhaps digital sales in this case) that are always on there.

Can someone please kindly post the part no of their 17" display? either by LG or AUO or Chi Mei, I take?

I want to replace my 900p display, would this be easy to do?

    Thanks.

B173hw02 v1 is the AUO matte display.
Not too hard so long as you don't have a touch screen. Pull the bezel off carefully so as not to break the clips, then unscrew the panel, disconnect the cord, then disassemble the screen brackets, then reverse with the new screen.
And of course, make sure the battery is out and there is no power to the unit

Does anyone have the part number to the Nvidia heat sink?
Also does anyone know if there are different versions of the CPU heatsink in this model, and if so, what the part numbers are?

I have a friend about to buy an m6800 from dells' end of financial year sale. It comes with win7 pro, and a hybrid ssd.

Dell want to charge $1200 to upgrade to a 256gb ssd, so no thanks. He will buy an ssd else where, but one question:

He has the win 7 iso, but no license key. Can he do a fresh install of win7 pro onto the ssd, then use the product key that came with the pre-installed win7 on the hybrid drive?

    Thanks
    Rob
