M6600 Owners Thread

The Reciever thanks for you support, I should rest bios with the m6100 installed or before installed, right know Im working only with intel HD as main Video,

 

Somewhere along the line I missed the notification for the A16 BIOS update to my M6600. I've been running A15 since its release and see that the current update is A18, which is cited as URGENT. The A16 update is also cited as URGENT. Here's my question. Can I Flash the A18 update without dependency on the A16 update or should I perform them in order? The language in the A18 version details appears to state that A16 is included in the A18 update. HOWEVER, the latest version update dates are WEIRD! A18 latest version update was on November 02nd, while the A16 latest version update was on November 09th, a week after A18. Isn't that weird?
I ask because I bought my machine factory OEM refurbished. It came to me running BIOS A03 (I think?). When I tried to flash to the latest update back then, A10 (I think?) there was a dependency issue and I could not flash the BIOS out of order. I had to install intermediate versions before A10 would successfully flash.
Please advise. Thank you.

 

Normally, you can skip versions, because they are cumulative; going from A15 to A18 should be fine. Sometimes there is a particular version that you have to install before you can move up, but that should be in the release notes.

The date discrepancy could be because they updated the release notes; sometimes the date gets changed after an update was released (odd).

I have problem with my M6600. i7-2860qm, M6100, 24GB RAM DDR3L, 500GB SSD, 1TB HDD, original battery 97Wh, bios A15.

When i boot windows 10 on battery to logon screen or login notebook will shutdown. Like thermal overheating.
I test more drivers or instalation it was the same. I change RAM, 2920xm to 2860qm, battery. But when i boot in safe mode it works on battery. Next was disable 2 core in bios and it worked for 80%, sometime it shutdown. But I do know where is the problem. GPU M6100 it working normal and has got modded vbios.

Edit:
vbios flash back to original and C-state in bios is disable. After this is more stable, but when I run a game on baterry it will shutdown, same as when i disconect ac adapter.

 

There may be a problem with the motherboard. I died so alone - it was turned on then it was not turned on. Fortunately, they are not expensive, - 60-80 dollars.

 

m6600-m6800 have the same chassis.

That being said Ive taken the m4600 and the m6600 to maybe about 6 different countries in multiple hemispheres and are tanks.

Hello, with M6600 I prefer AMD M6100 (8950m for WIndows 10). Best performance for price, but you do not have "optimus", you could run only on AMD gpu. But I had same setup for my M6600 and it worked great. You could use K5000, K4000 and K3000. Some people use 680M or 7970M but it has got some issue. It is not plug and play solution. Driver and BIOS issue. Go for AMD M6100

 

AMD M6100 is not enough powerfull, he want at least a K4000M or K5000M overclocked.
The issue is with the M6600 bios or with the GPU bios ? for exemple there is only two pascal vbios that allow the M6700/M6800 to run pascal gpu

 

Well I overlock M6100, but it was hard to cool it down under 85 degrees with Liquid Pro. Nvidia run little bit hotter as I know.
You need K4000M or K5000M with dell vbios. Sometimes it imarked as Dell verison. Something like this video card.
Do not use HP version, it could be problem flash it to Dell vbios (I run K3100M in my Alienware and did not show Dell logo so I cannot flash it to Dell bios verison, In M6600 K*100 series not working). Also for overclocking I recomend use good termal pads.
