trying now with nv inspector. Everything higher on core then 970mhz making 3dm freeze. VBios is strongly modified by builder of this card.

You'd need more voltage, max safe at least for the 780m was 1.062v but I cant say that is applicable to your card or not with any amount of certainty

I have the strangest thing going on maybe someone on here can help.

I have a M6600 that was upgraded to the AMD firepro M6100 by dell.

I recently got a U3818DW ulrawide 38" monitor. If I connect to the DP on the side of the laptop I can get the full resolution of 3840x1600 @ 60hz. If I connected the DP through the dock I can only get 2560x1440. I'ved tried to increase it and update the drivers.

I even purchased the most current version of the dock P02X E-port advanced 2, because it had USB 3.0 ports and mentioned it could handle 4k.

I'm wondering if since my graphics card was upgraded to the M6100 it can handle the DP1.2 protocol directly, but if I try to go through the dock it is not supporting it from the M6600?

Not sure what to suggest to you, but I will mention that I had issues getting 4K/60Hz working on the 7510 through the ePort dock, but it works fine directly attached to the system or through the Thunderbolt dock. 4K/30Hz works fine through the ePort dock. I can set it to 60Hz but it will only work for a few seconds before flickering out and returning back to 30Hz.

I've seen similar stories from other users. I've also heard from users who have 4K/60Hz working without any issue. I wonder if the ePort dock DisplayPort connection just isn't physically up to handling that much bandwidth. (The dock interface was designed before 4K over DisplayPort was available...) It could be a combination of your particular dock, monitor, and cable that makes the difference...

I'm still looking for someone who could assist me in my GPU replacement. I can compensate for your time. I made an error in my first post about the BIOS version, which is actually A16.

    https://support.amd.com/en-us/download Notebook Graphics>Amd Firepro Series>Dell Precision M6600(Firepro M6100 Mobility)> [Your OS]
That's where I got my drivers for the amd, I also uninstalled my Quadro 4000m from device manager before opening up my computer.
I find your situation to be weird because if the pc did not detect the m6100, it should've switched to the cpu graphics and worked like that.
My BIOS is at A15 though, because that's where it was specified that m6100 support was first included.
Assuming you flashed your BIOS to A16, and your m6600 did not come like that, it DID flash to 100% and restart on its own, right?
For anyone else that doesn't know yet, the heatsinks work on both Nvidia and AMD graphics cards, you may just have to readjust where your thermal pads are, if you have them.

Also I'm curious about what the difference between vBIOS and BIOS is, and what it means to flash a graphics card. I ask because I am interested in the Radeon 7970m seeing it has even better performance that the m6100.

vBIOS is "video BIOS", or the firmware stored on your graphics card. "Flashing" a graphics card would be overwriting its vBIOS with something new. With a custom vBIOS, sometimes this can let you change aspects of the card's behavior — i.e. change the default clock speed, allow more flexibility with overclocking, or in the case of two similar cards, unlock features that are supposed to be disabled on one card but not the other.

Laptop GPUs generally come pre-loaded with a different custom vBIOS for each different laptop manufacturer, even if the card model is the same. So, if you for example purchase a MXM graphics card that was pulled from an HP system with the intention of using it in a Dell system, you might have better luck if you flash it with the appropriate Dell vBIOS for that card. The vBIOS and the system BIOS need to "get along" to some degree and it is a bit more rigid than with desktop GPUs, where pretty much any GPU works with any motherboard without much hassle.

I see. I found this link,
    http://forum.notebookreview.com/thr...modded-vbios-for-clevo-p1xxhm-laptops.688656/
but I don't know if it applies to the M6600 since he says its for Clevo P1xxHM (which upon lookup, are not Precision laptops). Does anyone know of a thread anywhere with instructions on flashing the HD 7970M for the M6600?
Has anyone been able to install a Radeon M290x? I've read previous posts, but none so far that have.
