Yes I reset CMOS setting by two ways. One just plug out battery and second hold power button. And Yes as I said, It was work normal. I just went from one place to another. I am IT technic with PC or notebook. But it could not be standard problem. I just took it from my bag and HDD LED is solid, Battery LED is blinking after minute goes off and WLAN LED is solid. I looked to manual. BTW I know only one MB with 2 slots working (with i7), but I cannot remeber which slots was broken. I saw it on ebay half year ago, But I think it was bottom slots not only one on each side.

Long time since I last posted in this thread, apologies if this is better in a new thread, my machine is still solid but would like to upgrade. Just wanted to know what others were driving who had this in the past and what's the best upgrade path for the M6600? Happy with the keypad layout and number pad, would prefer the 15" version in future as long as the cooling is adequate.

The most equivalent current 15" system would be the Precision 7510. It has good cooling. The only differences between it and the 17" 7710, aside from the physical size, are the available GPU choices, and the fact that the 7510 can have one NVMe drive but 7710 can have two.

There are also a fair number of M4800 on the Outlet, and coming from a Sandy Bridge generation machine it might be a worthwhile upgrade if the cost of the M7510 is a bit too much.

I just upgraded my wife's M6600 to Windows 10 and found the drivers for smart card reader are not working. My question is, "Which M6600 driver set on the Dell download site contains the smart card reader drivers?"

    Thank you!

    Go to M6800
Go to the support page for the M6800 and download the ControlVault drivers for Windows 10.

Thinking of either getting a new laptop or just upgrading my M6600. Have looked at refurbished M7710s and M6800s which are both reasonably priced (and nicely specced) but I am quite attached to my M6600 and upgrading components can be cheaper and rewarding in a way.

My CPU is now i7-2720QM with GPU Nvidia Quadro 4000m. Do you think it is worthwhile upgrading to i7-2960XM which I believe is the most powerful CPU the M6600 can handle? Or is it better to upgrade the GPU to the 5010m? Or am just wasting money on an old system and should be moving to newer tech which will last longer?

Basically looking for better speed when rendering HD video etc., especially as likely to move into 4K soon.

    Thanks.

    Hi,

Two of the usb 3.0 port on the right side are broken on my M6600, these are on the motherboard. I'd like to have them replaced, but I can not find any suitable connectors (these are kind of special unknown animal for me). Does anyone know, where to find them?
    Regards,
    Soma
