Looks like imminent GPU failure. If you can try to run dell diagnostic, pressing f12 during post and going into diagnostic menu.
If you are still under warranty - contact Dell asap - if you are you should get firepro m6100 which is a nice upgrade, if you are not - you can contact me for a nvidia quadro 4000m i have for sale :D

Since I shamelessly went off topic with my sale i would recommend we move that discussion either to PM or to my sale topic. Link to my add.

@daydark those are good results with decent framerates, but I was hoping you would include the Temps as well. Although you have a different GPU I'm still interested. I really want to swap the 6970M for a 7970M but I live in Pakistan :(

I had to rebuild this same laptop Dell Precision M6600. Dell ATI M8900 driver Win 7 64bit failed install. I installed by removing Visual C C++ back to 2008 version. Driver installs a V C C++ 2010 Ver. I get black screens on boot. Still working on. Did you have any luck ?

    Hello!

I am getting ready to perform a cpu upgrade on my m6600. I am swapping my current i7-2620m for a i7-2860. I have never done this before, so I'm a bit nervous. From what I have read, it seems as though it is a pretty straight forward process. Does anyone have any advice on applying the thermal compound? Any other advice to ease my nervousness would be greatly appreciated! =)

    Thanks!

The processor upgrade went by without a hitch. Idle temperatures on all cores are mid to upper 30c. Temps after 20 minutes of a prime95 stress test with all cores firing at 100% are at upper 60c.

    Thanks

30/60*C ...amazing! What was indoor temperature? What thermal compound did you use?

    Hi All,

This is my first post in this thread, so greetings. :)

The touchscreen on my M6600 has ceased to work properly in the lower left-hand 1/6th of the display. I found a video on YouTube that talks about using a heat gun on wires that surround the digitizer to get it going again. Assuming that doesn't work, could someone tell me please, is all I need to do is replace it with part number K57WM? That's the part number for the Chimei Innolux (LG?) display - which I'm assuming I have, since that appears to be the more common part. Can I also assume that the whole of the parts required for the touchscreen are integrated into that part? So I wouldn't need anything else?

I looked at the manual (pages 91-94) and it appears that the touchscreen is integrated with the display panel. I'd just like to be absolutely certain before I spend the money on the part.

Any help is appreciated, thanks in advance.
