Thanks for the quick reply. :)
From what i gathered it works on the M6700 once the Nvidia driver inf is modified. Would probably need to flash back to stock from my OC/OV bios its currently using though. Only reason i did it for the Clevo is because the turbo boost feature on the 680m wont work with my notebook.

If everything works the hard part would be to find a cheap enough M6600 since i dont really need to purchase a system with GPU and CPU included.

just checked my sources and they don't seem to need new vbios.

Some one even flash msi vbios on it for ov and it works. ( though I wouldn't try that `~, the msi part, no the ov part :) )

Thanks again. :) Hopefully i can find a M6600 now.

Edit: Cant seem to find any reasonably priced M6600's but i did find M6700 tend to be cheaper. Should be basically the same system other than added support for Ivy Bridge, right?

You can check bokeh review, there are improvement here and there but nothing game changing.
    780m,who knows about 880m
    Sata 3 msata
    Usb 3 on dock
    Charging usb port iirc
    Screen can open 180
Removable gpu fan just by opening back panel like cpu fan.

What price point you saw them at? I sometimes watch them on ebay and tend to go from low 600 to 700 ish depending on config.

Not sure if build from parts is feasible. Let me guess some number in my mind.

    40 ac
    250 board +case
    50 display assembly
    20 bezel
    25 palm rest
    15 keyboard
    20 back panel
    Odd etc 30

    450-500ish,probably not worth it.

The M6600 are either same price as M6700 used ones or overpriced refurbs so thats why im looking at the Ivy bridge model instead. You would think a older system would be cheaper. :p

Cheapest one i found was a couple of M6700 Dell Refurbs on eBay starting from $999 to $1200 US dollars as well as a unopened one for $1025 US dollars.
In Europe i tracked down a M6700 from Dell Outlet UK going at £725 marked with scratch & dent.

    Specs for each one:

    eBay $999 refurb
    Intel Core i5-3340M
320 GB SATA Hard Drive (7200RPM)
    1x 2GB DDR3 1600 MHz
    1600x900 screen (matte)
    DVD drive
    AMD FirePro M6000 2GB GDDR5
    No webcam and fingerprint reader
    eBay $1199 refurb
    Intel Core i7-3740QM
500 GB SATA Hard Drive (7200RPM)
    2x 2GB DDR3 1600 MHz
    1600x900 screen (matte)
    DVD drive
    AMD FirePro M6000 2GB GDDR5
    No webcam and fingerprint reader
    eBay new
    Intel Core i5-3340M
500 GB SATA Hard Drive (7200RPM)
    2x 2GB DDR3 1866 MHz
    1600x900 screen (matte)
    DVD drive
    AMD FirePro M6000 2GB GDDR5
    Webcam and fingerprint reader
    UK modell
    Precision M6700 Laptop
    Intel Core i5-3320M
320 GB SATA Hard Drive (7200RPM)
    2x 2GB DDR3 1600 MHz
    1600x900 screen (matte)
    2X Blu-Ray Writer (BD-RE)
    AMD FirePro M6000 2GB GDDR5
    Webcam and fingerprint reader
Il try and email Dell Norway and see if they cant sell me a empty system if they still got some left in stock but its a long shot.

Neither im afraid. :( In the end it would be too expensive for me once i added shipping and import tax. Decided to just save up my money and just get a brand new M6900 or whatever Dell decides to call it.
Even though my hardware is good enough at the moment its still dated tech.

Sorry to hear that. Let's hope your P170 makes it fully functional to the M6900 release date.

This being said, "dated" is a harsh word. For all practical purposes minus power consumption (and even in this dept, only by a relatively small margin), it's pretty much up-to-date performance- and platform-wise.

Quick question about the VGA port.

I have something coming up where I want to attach the 6600 to my TV ( an older HD rear projection unit w/ no HDMI )

I want to get a VGA to S-Vid adapter, and just wanted to know if that is supported by the video card ?

    Thanks

    -Robert

I'm curious what hookups your projector has if it doesn't have HDMI. You won't get HD over S-video. (You mentioned that it's an HD projector so it has to have something other than S-video.) If it happens to have DVI, you can get a cheap HDMI->DVI cord and use that. You can also find VGA->component cables which will allow you to get HD.

Never tried VGA->S-video so can't say if it works or not. :p
