It should also be noted that the pads I reference are the soft stock thermal spacer-pads and not copper shims. If using copper shims, this will cause issues with the thermal sensors misreading the near-field radiant temps generated by the copper shims.

The same applies to the 3000M.

Thanks for reply. But I don't have problem with gpu temperature. My problem is gpu vrm temperature. I did not see it in ur HWinfo image.

I must note that vrm temperatures in idle are 110 reported and load 127 reported. There is no way if they are running on 127 they would still be alive as i've ran furmark on it for few hours. Not to mention games and it runs fine. But in you place i would take top palmrest out and test the heatsink above vrms with finger method. 110c is instant 2nd degree burn. In idle heatsing should be warm to hot (30-50c range), while 110 is hell hot, and if it is 110c it radiates serious amount of heat you can notice just by "hoovering" your finger above it, no need to finger test it and seek medical attention afterwards.

Sorry about misreading your original post - late and tired here.

Please confirm the utility you are using to read these VRM temps.

I did it with following programs: HWinfo, both 32 and 64, as well as aida both 32 and 64, as i had winxp installed on one of my backup drives. I think i did run speedfan at one point and it said same thing.

Btw, fan regulation was normal, system was running even cooler and quieter than with m8900. So lets say you have a component that hits 110+c you would have serious heat buildup inside it that would influence gpu temps and even crash the system.

    Same to me. HWinfo, AIDA64.
Gpu-z did not show gpu vrm temperature.
Fan speed is around 2500 ~ 2600 for both fans.

All programs report that speed to me also, regardless of actual fan speed. Even if i know the fan is not spinning retarded numbers pop out :D

HWinfo and AIDA64 give me similar VRM temps (106C-) and fan speeds with Quadro 5010M. The temp is already >100C right after the laptop is started so the info has to be incorrect. Could it be that the temps are actually in fahrenheit even though both progs claim they are celsius?

Seems to me more likely the reading is consistently wrong, not uncommon with many combinations of cards and sw.

It could be, in my case range almost fits from 105ish to 127ish which is translated to roughly 40 to 60ish celsius, altho 40 is still too high for idle temps, at least according to my finger method as vrm's in my case were dead cold after initial bootup (optimus enabled).

Also since i had my m6600 placed on the docking station and without top palmrest and keyboard it took at least 15-20 minutes of light (forum) surfing to heat up both gpu and cpu heatsing to "finger method" noticable temperatures :D
