Thanks. Strange that Dell User Guide does not show where mSSD goes or any reference, that I could find, to 3rd HD. Also Dell site does not list mSSD, anyone have part number? (128GB the largest?).

Current M6600 has dual 500GB RAID 0 (OS only system just arrived). When mSSD is installed could OS be moved to mSSD (unlikely)?

    MoldCAD, Is yours factory configured?
If not how did you configure mSSD plus 2x750GB RAID 0?
    OS and apps on mSSD?

    Anyone else have this keyboard?
Looks to me like English Euro keyboard. (Double click image to enlarge.)

Yep - mine is factory configured, and W7 resides on the mSSD (boot drive). BTW, it's scoring on par with the 2x 750GB RAID 0 (according to HDTune).

Thx again. Those are very good scores. How loud was the machine when you did the testing? And how warm was the machine?

This quadro 4000 surprises me very pleasently so far (like the quadro 2000 in w520).

Not that loud. Max temp was 68c.

Remember though, this is a professional laptop that just happens to be able to game. It is not a laptop built for gaming. Then again, I guess you are the one buying it and can do what you want with it :)

My guess is that the clocks are conservative to keep it from having any errors at all when you are doing gpu accelerated math.

Good to know that mSSD ~= 2x750GB RAID 0.

However your system is much more stable, meaning that I would not recommend a notebook system with only RAID 0.
My M6400 was factory spec'd as below except it was RAID 0, and I learnt the hard way about RAID 0 risks. So when fresh install was needed ... I switched to RAID 1 and it has been super stable (but obviously not as fast and my M6400 500 GB total is about 80% used).

By the way its not clear to me how this boot OS plus separate RAID 0 works?
For safety can one have the contents of the 128GB mSSD mirrored on the 1.5TB RAID 0 (in the event something happens to the mSSD)?

For my work schedule I need stability, stability, stability! If 1TB were available I would have no problem deciding on mSSD (as boot drive with Win7 Enterprise 64-bit) with 2 x 1TB (RAID 1) with all apps and data on RAID 1 (and hopefully mSSD contents on RAID 1 as back up).

Yes I'm fully aware of the potential instability issues, and am applying all measures to be prepared for disaster :)
