    Here is the 250gb. I will be receiving the Scorpio Black 750gb tomorrow, and the OCZ Vertex 3 120gb as well. I almost ordered the Samsung M8, but I don't think I can seriously work with that drive.

    Thanks. Sure is strange placing and receiving an order in California from good old US Dell and ending up with an Eastern bloc keyboard!

    PS. Speaking of strange things ... that sure is an interesting outfit!

    I'm getting ready to install my ssd and do a clean win7 install. I haven't really even looked at the bios options. Can I switch which drive is the boot drive or do I have to move over the stock drive?

    I'm just installing drivers on my ssd now...i would just swap the hardware, takes an extra five minutes and will reduce the potential for weirdness down the road.

    Just keep track of the screws that come out of the case, and my Crucial 300 SSD did not include smounting crews, so you may need to cannibalise some to keep the drive secure in the second bay. :)mad: )

    FWIW, here are my numbers for a Crucial C300 128GB SSD. I did a n00b thing and installed Windows with the BIOS set to RAID. I don't know if switching it to AHCI will improve write performance (no complaints on read, lol), but doing the msahci registry hack resulted in a system that wouldn't boot.

    How did you get the original hd out? I took the battery out, took off the cover, removed the screw and slid the hd tab thing to the unlocked position but it doesn't seem to want to come out. I took a small flat head and tried to wiggle it a little from the side of the computer but it doesn't seem to want to budge. Am I missing something?

    There are four 'bronze' screws holding the drive in, you'll see them screwed down into the base of the drive along the perimeter of the drive case with an encircled H beside them. Once those are removed (you may have to use a magnetic driver or tip the case upside down) just push up on the latch and the drive will pop out partway.

    Pull directly out (it's snug). The drive is just press fit into the caddy, just put a thumb in the big circle on the back and index finger wrapped around the triangular tab (you'll see it) and push it out.

    On the second bay, three of the four screws are a thicker gauge, it's a little funky.

    BTW, i just switched to AHCI (needed to also set atapi reg setting as outlined here: Changing from RAID to AHCI - Microsoft Answers ) Made no appreciable difference in performance:

    Yep, that was it. How are you going about the drivers. I've only done one clean install before. It was on a HP and I just went through the setup folder loading each driver. The drivers folder doesn't seem to be as straight forward.

    @Bokeh,
    last question: i see you have (temporarily) clocked your Quadro 4000M as high as a GTX 485M (575/1500).
    I am curious to know whether the 4000M shares the same base core as 480M or 485M ...
    I know it's a GF104, i see it's labeled "GF104GL".

    Guys, just to confirm: this is indeed Czech keyboard (so "Eastern block" as you call it :) ), how it got to your notebook will probably remain a mystery... ;)
