I'm in Croatia now and notebook is purchased in USA i will replace it when warranty transfer is complete as it will take them a month to get replacement part. Altho it says that even in Croatia I will have NBD...

EDIT: Warranty transfer took whole 12 hours. Got contacted from technicians in croatia - new screen should arrive within a week (or at least i've been told so). ATM i've got LG panel, will see what will i get for a replacement.

    The Problem:
I've had a problem with the touch screen touching itself since it was 3 months old. They had to replace the video card and it worked quite a bit better after that, not that they are related, but something must have changed when he had it all apart. After that, itt had to only haveto be calibrated if I moved the angle of the screen. Now, it also happens sometimes if I don't change the angle of the screen, and I now have to calibrate it approximately 10 times a day, and it takes a few minutes each time to come up with a strategy to get to the calibration button since the touch screen keeps moving the focus away from the calibration icon when I attempt to run it.

So what generally ends up being the fix for this? Is it the whole screen, or is there a digitizer glass over the screen, or just what needs to happen?

Have you tried using the digitizer drivers from N-trig instead of the ones provided by Dell? I've heard reports of it fixing issues like this.

Yes, I've been running the beta drivers since they came out last summer, and I just checked again and they haven't updated them.

Want super in-depth info on your M4600 - M6600 rig?

Here's the formerly classified Dell Precision M4600 – M6600 Technical Guidebook (from Dell's PartnerDirect site):

    http://partnerdirect.dell.com/sites...0_Technical_Guidebook_October2011_English.pdf

Tons of info above and beyond what's in the Precision brochure and spec sheet.

There is also a Precision M4700 - M6700 Technical Guidebook on Dell's Partner Workstation Resources page, but it's not available unless you're a Dell Partner (I guess it will become available with the next Precision release):

    Partner Resources

    Cheers!

    Hey everyone,

Can I ask a favor for folks to check what temperature their m6600 is idling at.

I noticed my M6600 started to run the fans all the time (both are on)

The gpu, and motherboard temps are fine.

The cpu is climbing to nearly 70C (on dock) while idling (1-5% loading), peaking at 98C during any medium loading of the cpu (15-30% loading).

GPU and motherboard stay pretty solid, low temps.

I want to verify if this is way off.

    It's an i7 extreme

If anyone is interested, the Reimaging thread posts have been updated - revised for readability, formatting, newer drivers and updated links, more in Solutions post, better Drivers layout in Resources post etc.
