    Interesting.
During my reimage of Win7 I got the first four Drivers up to IRST, No Video Drivers. Walked away and it timed out to display off. Moved cursor and it lit up and tried but could not display any visible screen, black lit.
Closed lid which put to hibernate and then resumed, all ok.
When everything is up to date usually turn off wireless switch before shutdown, sleep or hibernate and problem goes away after a couple times.

Might want to search for Windows "race" issues and see if there are any that fit your problem description. Try eightforums.com

I believe it would be this one 10.1: Driver Details | Dell US

That is the latest posted by Dell and the one I've always been using since I got my system.

ninjawed, lol. Aaron is quite fast at the keyboard as is you. I'm still slacking with no hope.

Well this thread has been inactive for three days now . . . so I hope you don't mind.

I'll just say that I live within 10 miles of the huge Newbury Park, Malibu, Pacific Coast Highway - California wildfire.

There is ash and smoke everywhere and we can hardly breathe when outside.

Here's some videos of a canyon near where I've always lived and where in my younger days I proudly contributed blood,

BTW: They might not be for everyone especially the second link.

In case anyone is interested, I upgraded the nVidia drivers yesterday to their newly released Quadro v320.00. All is working very nicely so far, no problems at all.

Ps. Hope you and your area are ok, rcb.to.ca

Thanks. All good here. It is normal for this area. This time of the season is better if it is going to occur, i.e., it's cooler and less windy (Santa Ana winds). We worry more about not having had a big earthquake in over 20 years :(

You're using this A12 Intel Graphics driver w/ Optimus enabled?: Driver Details | Dell US Plus the latest driver from nVidia site?

The only thing I get concerned about with nVidia site drivers is that if Optimus is disabled some video players and even Chess Titans have issues.

I do need to reimage the other machine so if I can get apprised without testing then all the easier.

Finally my Dell Precision M6600 reached me after two months (evading various taxes by having friend deliver it to me, not Dell fault). I've bought a refurb for 960$ i7 2720qm, 8gb ddr3, 750gb drive, ATI m8900, no webcam, no wifi card. Got myself wifi card for 20$ here on nbr and i have no use for a webcam atm. I must say i'm impressed by silence while working with word documents and general surfing. Managed to get 3.5 hours of battery life earlier today - general wifi surfing, brightness at around 70%, data transfer from usb to internal drive. All in all i'm quite happy to finally be able to post here and not feel like an outsider :)

3.5 hour is pretty impressive with the m8900.

    Welcome! That was some waiting.

I'm going to take your path on the next one and go refurbished and Dim upgrades.

Cpu locked at 800mhz, lowest p state. Gpu also at its lowest state (i think 100/150). WiFi power at 50% - my router is crap and limited at 54mbps so no point in using it on maximum. Also only ssd was running and my mechanical drive is set to shut down after 1 minute. also 50% of the screen. Its unbelivable how f**king bright it is at 100% i dont think i'll ever use it that way. Also i'm using regular drivers not "proffesional" ones. As i'm pretty much purchased this as dtr for collage work and gaming.

Noticed that when notebook wakes up from sleep and screen is at 20-30% brightness it starts to flicker, but when i push it up and down to same level again it works normally so i guess i really dont care in the end.

On the screen - i must say colors are wonderful for a TN. I really didnt expect that - my first thought when i finally reinstalled windows was that Dell uses some custom color schemes - years working on crap notebooks/monitors made me used to it :)

You can get a replacement screen if it flickers. No way I can keep my machine @800mhz, it crawls with all my background process.
