    Pierce,

This is what IT_Architect recommends, BUT, looking on the website, it looks like Dell released brand new USH drivers AND touchpad drivers just yesterday, so even his recommendations about both the USH drivers and touchpad drivers might not even be necessary anymore. Here they are anyway:
My recommendation is to install the drivers in priority of what you need, I installed the graphics driver first, touchpad drivers next, touchscreen drivers, Intel SSD drivers, and I think that was all that I installed. The rest of what I needed were done automatically with Windows Update, and even more of the rest I didn't bothering installing/updating because they weren't necessary (dell memory card reader driver). I've had Windows 8 Pro (clean install) since it came out back in October, and everything is working fine so far.

Anyone following the m6600/m6700 threads seen Bokeh post test result using slice with m6600? I either miss it, read it -> forget, or think it is posted but it is not.

    Baiii,

Yeah you are right, I saw it somewhere too but can't find it now, the result was that if you plugged in an m6700 battery slice into an m6600, it would say that it was incompatible (some sort of bios issue). However, since we're both stuck with M6600s, we can just buy a brand new, separate m6600 97 watt battery (~$45.00) instead of a brand new m6700 battery slice (~$120.00). Saves us a little bit of money, and I think it's a bit lighter and smaller too. However the only problem is that we would have to turn off our computers first, then swap the batteries to continue using it. Not a big hassle though.

the hinge broke on my 6 month refurb unit yesterday.
just opened the lid and the hinge on the left just broke.

phoned dell they said its not covered by warranty and they will send me a quote for parts and labour (dont expect it to be cheap)

is it right that its not covered by the 3 year next day warranty or any basic warranty that should apply to the sale. (im in the uk if it makes any difference.)

just received email they want £185.

It shares the same camera module as the Latitude line, such as the E6520. Regardless, the part number is CJ3P2.

That is crazy. I will look and see if I have an extra left side hinge. In the USA, they usually cover a questionable hinge.

It is not hard to replace yourself if you follow the service manual.

    thanks

from what i can tell there is a little steel hook that the screen hooks onto when opening and the plate is now loose. other wise the actual mechanism is fine, i think its just a matter of replacing the hook part.

as you can see from the pic the plate is now out, it can slide back in but it just pops out once you open the lid.

i presume the plate is supposed to be screwed in but i cant see any screws?

This unrelated photo shows the hinge in mounted to the base assembly block via (2) M3x8mm fasteners and the hinge cover is secured with a 3rd fastener.

Are you saying these fasteners are missing, stripped, or loose? Have you removed the palm rest to inspect the base frame assembly to make sure the mounting block is fine?
