Scott thanks for the reply, I found the threads that Bokeh did with the tear downs.

It does look like the fans from the 6700 will go into the 6600 and that the heat sinks may as well, if there is a difference in thermal cap.

as an added bonus, it looks like my 6600 will show up today :) I have a feeling I am not going to get a lot of work done after the FedEx guy get here

it will be interesting to see how my Tosh Qosmio x305 compares to the 6600 in size, I haven't been able to close my laptop bad in 5 years :/

Some great threads on this site.

I didn't interpret that statement as being factual, I thought it was an opinion reflecting on the number of "refinements" in the design of the M6700. The question maybe "are those refinements really worth the extra cost of choosing an M6700 over an M6600?" I didn't think so as I just purchased another M6600, choosing it over the pricier M6700 as you pointed out.

Personally, I liked the refinements made to the M6700 design and that is why i opted for it over the M6600. Hardware aside, we're talking small incremental improvements and we can expect the same with the M6800 and onwards. Hopefully, we'll see thunderbolt make an appearance.

    Welp itssssss here lol

Way thinner than the Toshiba bit wider about the same weight.

Power Brick is a tad fatter but way thinner.

about to start moving a few things over and run a few video test.

Oddly I am using the mouse sticks buttons with the touch pad, it would be nice to kill those buttons like I could on the stick. That middle button is a bit of a waste with the selections of uses they give you, it would be nice to have Web Back as an option.

I have to say it is a nice looking machine, I might vinyl wrap the lid for giggles.

Quick question - are the Speaker buttons by the edge of the screen, suppose to light up ?

So is it correct that the USB 3.0 ports on the newer "E-Port Plus Advanced Port Replicator with USB 3.0" will at least step down to USB 2.0 speeds when either the M6600 or the M4600 are docked? Or are the USB 3.0 ports on the docking station rendered completely useless?

Of course USB 3.0 devices generally are backwards-compatible with USB 2.0, but I am wondering if this still works when transferred through the dock connector.

Thanks again for the replies guys, very helpful.

I received the docking station today and everything works fine but...

Since I started using the laptop with lid closed and a 24inch 1080p screen plugged in the back, I've noticed a massive general drop in FPS through the various games and other 3d platforms I have. I m talking about going from 30-50 fps, to 5-10.
It's true that it's the first time I've been running these 3d platforms at 1080p but I'm really surprised by the drop in performance, I have the FirePro M8900 and I thought it would be able to handle it without any problem. I even had my eyes on a 27 inch screen that i would run at a resolution of 2560 x 1440, but now I'm seriously re-considering it, it would be pointless to have such a big screen if I can't run anything smoothly on it.

So the question would be: Is it normal ? Is that what's to be expected ? (and so big disapointment on the m8900) Or is something wrong ? Or a feature that I'm not aware of kicked in and slowed everything down ?

Monitor the m8900 clock, my experience was that sometimes using dock "may" lock it to 400mhz for no reason.
