Just got my system in today!

I was wondering what do you guys normally do once you break open a new system (programs...). Also what antivirus/etc. programs do you use. It's been quite a few years for me to upgrade and I can see the difference in operation like night and day! Also I want to use something other than Norton (school) or antivir. Unless those are the best options...

Nice, i have same battery as you (it reads 97.247 Wh) , but a quad CPU.
I haven't the "extended battery life" plan option ( which probably comes with DELL utilities i haven't reinstalled? ).
On "power saver" i get max battery life rawly around 5h00 - 6h00.

    I'm planning/considering installing a GTX 580M in my M6600.

Would the M6600 need a BIOS update to see the GTX 580M?

Would Optimus be enabled on the GTX 580M?

Can Dell's HSF handle the heat from the GTX 580M?

    Any insights appreciated.

Correct. Install all or part of ControlPoint. You could just install the power options if you wanted. This power option shuts down things not in use like the optical drive. Very nice.

My M6600 is to be delivered today. Do not know if the person I asked will be able to collect it. Last time I have contact with my rep was 7 days ago. I am not able to get in contact with him. I have complained to supervisor and he promised that my rep will contact me immediatelly. Have not heard from them since. I keep reminding of myself everyday - no response.
It was important as I asked them hundred times already, to update delivery address in my order, so my colleague can collect it for me. Have no idea whether it is done or not. It is obviously to hard to Dell employees to drop me couple words of reply via email. Guess I should complain to supervisor's superiors now. It really pisses me off!
Anyway, because of the same thing I still do not know what kind of keyboard I have in it. If my laptop gets collected, I would like to ask my colleague to make sure it is a backlit.
    Question:
Is keyboard blinking it's backlit during BIOS post??
    - If yes then that would be the simplest way of checking it, even for not computer savvy person.

For those who are about to order: be prepared for problems, as you can get as unlucky as I did and have no contact with sales rep whatsoever. You will be on your own then. Even though the product and price seem nice, my general experience with dell.com is extremaly negative.

M6600 Left. M6500 Right. White balance and exposure are the grey square the middle.

    Didn't you mean M6500 and M6600 ? Cause you've got two M6600 now.

Can you maybe answer my question about keyboard backlit blink during BIOS post? What I mean is that some other laptops turn on the backlit for the moment of POST and then siwtch the thing off when starting to boot. Is M6600 doing it, as well?

Well even my experience with them is not too good as well. I was told prior to the purchase that I would get the system within 15-20 days of ordering. But my first EDD came out to on 26th July (I ordered on 17th June). I talked to my rep again and all I heard was "I'll do something about it." but that never had any effect on the pace at which the order was being processed finally last week I was told that the system has been shipped from production (malasiya; on 4th) and will reach india in a few days. It did land on 7th but from then on is with the customs. Apparently it might take 3-5 more days for it to be cleared, then it will be invoiced and send to my current address (which may take anywhere between 3-7 days). Thus exceeding my current EDD of 18th July.

That said I've been kept updated on every info since last week. In every couple of days I get a call updating me on the status of my system and even apologizing for the delay. :p
