The only one that will slow down your system in the form of longer boot times is the Security Application. If you need the enhanced security, install it. If you don't, I would leave it off.

Scott, I do have above Schematics, but it show 30-pin out. On LP173WF2 datasheet shown 50-pin. I don't have an access to physical on LP173WF2 panel and Sager MB.

BTW, this Morning I got e-mail from Pchub.

The clock stepping is based on the 100MHz core bus. You can see how the specified various quad-core operational clock states are achieved below for the 2720QM. In this case, the normal clock rates achieved with all 4 cores active is 2.2~2.9GHz, 3.0~3.2GHz with 2 cores active, and 3.3GHz with 1 core active in "turbo" mode.

Yes, the 2960XM has the "turbo" multiplier unlocked so you may be able to play around with that value, but I have not tested it with a M6600.

This is exactly the info I was hoping to receive, but could you elaborate? I mean, what exactly should I uninstall, or not install if I decide to install fresh?
In the Dell Mobile Precision Reimage "How-To" Guide one of the things listed under BIOS, Drivers and Firmware is the Dell Control Point Security Driver Pack. Under that it says:
    1) Installs and enables the security devices & controllers
    2) Even if you do not install the Control Point managers you should install the Control Point security driver as it contains needed drivers

Are you saying that, since I ordered it without a fingerprint reader and don't plan on using any security features, I should install any of this stuff above?

Yes, the eDP port has less pins and the LG panel has a 40+10-pin interface so we just need to match up what is used and what is not.

Khenglish has tried a 2920XM in his E6520. Problem is the bios has locked the CPU preventing the unlocked multipliers from being accessible in Throttlestop. Does the M6600 do the same?

Well, I have actually tested the Dell M8900 along with a Dell provided 4000M and a HP provided 4000M. The heat sink fastener thread size and pitch is the same on all three back plates regardless of the area size of the square center section of the bracket, which is not critical because of the protective insulator/adhesive pad used.

I'd venture to say that MSE + a little internet common sense is enough for most people. That being said, I'll give NIS 2012 a try. I've had contempt for Norton for a while so I don't even look their way when considering antivirus software.

First, I would like to thank Dell-Mano_G for help with replacing CMO with AUO screen. Colors and parametrs are much better, however there I still see some things to improve:

    1. screen - like I said much, much better, the only one problem is connected with some eye tiredness :(

Question - can somebody with matt AUO try to record screen output with phone/camera and see, whether picture is rock stable or whether there are some moving parts on it..

I will explain - with my M6600 I see some moving strips (with digital camera) with brightness lower than 100%. I have googled and found, that this can happen because of too low frequency used for flashing LED backlight.... Do you know any software, which could control it ? (I guess, it should be connected with PWM control or something like that)

I hope, that Dell will add some options in next BIOS versions for changing it (I preffer stable picture over battery life).... I will add, that 1st level of support wasn't able to help with this.

Changing drivers, disabling DPST in Intel settings or Optimus didn't help too :(

    2. in my BIOS (A07 of course) in the section System Configuration I don't have option System Management. this document System Setup Menu Options describes, that it can enable ASF technology used for remote administration. hwinfo shows, that ASF is enabled in my case (1st level of support wasn't able to help me with this).

Do you know, how to disable it ? Do you have this option in BIOS ?

    3. hard drive - in the future probably for replacing (on my own this time), because doesn't have 4096 bytes sectors and it's loud (like each Seagate ?) :(

    4. one hinge - in the future probably for replacing

Generally good machine with good support, after improving at least screen issue it will be excellent.

Which memory to buy from Crucial?
New M6600 on its way with 2960XM.
Am I correct that I want 1.35V rather than 1.5V to save heat and a little battery life?

What about speed. What are the pros and cons of 1333 vs 1600?

Note that I'm going with 16GB of RAM and I think that 1333 and 1600 are both under a hundred bucks...

I understand that the 1600 is faster, but I don't understand how that speed correlates to every day use. Isn't it the processor that controls how fast the computer is. I know there's more to it than that or they wouldn't make faster memory. But can anyone explain, and/or provide a nice link that explains...
