Again not an expert here but does this mean your 1866 ram is running at 933mhz

or is there a multiplier on that and again are you stating here that the 2720 is rated higher than the 2630 IN MHZ

When ready, let me know. I have a few extra of these WF2 panels from Dell I will sell if you're buying. ;)

I suggest using Microsoft Security Essentials. It is free and just works... without the issues.

My M6600 should arrive next week - does come with any bloatware on it?

If so, what should I remove?

The Intel 500 series = the generation of hardware = currently the Intel 510 SSD, which comes in a few storage sizes. More info is HERE.. The next generation in 2012 will be the "520" drives.

You can compare all the processors and link to their reference data sheets HERE.

To clarify, both the 2920XM and 2960XM are specified to support 1066/1333/1600MHz DDR3 memory. If your specific system also plays nice with 1866MHz sticks, great. My point was the faster memory will [in most cases] be backwards compatible in regards to the timing so even if your stated memory speed is not supported by the CPU, it should still run at the highest "compatible" speed supported by the CPU.

Now, in regards to the new 2960XM, it looks like full iGPU functionality/switching is disabled so you lose Optimus with that option. See the attached PDF that shows the differences between the two processors.

With all this said, I would not invest in either CPU at this time since we are getting close the next generation of processors and the cost on these will fall greatly in the coming 3 months. In other words, it is my opinion they are not worth the premium when very capable processors like the 2720QM or even the 2760QM are now agressively priced and will handle anything thrown at them.

Thank you. I noticed a lot of dudes got the same specs for ~1k with 20% off Dell outlet last 3 weeks lol. One dude got one 6600 with the quadro 4000M for only $740 - I dont really know how Dell price their refurb laptops

If I have 2 super high resolution external monitors (2560x1600) how do I connect them to my 6600 ? 1 DisplayPort can handle it, but VGA wont ? HDMI is not an option...

That would be me.... But yeah everything was standard except for the quadro 4000m and the panel with scratch&dent..

As for the external monitor, dp supports up to 1600p but to my knowledge vga and hdmi don't.

I would just try one of these HDMI to DVI cables (1.4a is best).
Amazon.com: AmazonBasics HDMI to DVI Adapter Cable (9.8 Feet/3.0 Meters): Electronics

HDMI explained (ref: HDMI vs DisplayPort: which is best? | News | TechRadar)

The High Definition Multimedia Interface first appeared in 2003 and was designed as a digital replacement for the multitude of analogue formats used in consumer AV standards (RF, SCART, Composite, S-VHS, RGB and so forth), in a compact single cable.

It can carry any uncompressed TV signal with 48-bit colour and up to eight channels of audio as well as control connections for the rare instances where one bit of kit can control another.

A DVI signal is fully compatible, so you can use a DVI to HDMI converter no probs (although not for the analogue signals on DVI-A obviously).

The standard was put together by a consortium of big names, including Panasonic, Sony, Philips and Toshiba. The specification has now reached version 1.4.

The big gain in the later versions is the maximum clock speed, which governs bandwidth. The original specification called for a maximum of 165MHz, which is just enough to handle 1080p.

Version 1.3 upped this to 340MHz, in order to comfortably handle 1600p (technically known as Wide Quad Extended Graphics Array). The maximum data rate is 10.4GB/s.
