I have a few of these 120Hz capable LCD panels too, but have not found a M6600 cable that works. With that said, I have not tried this M17x R3 cable. The system board side looks close, but I cannot tell 100%.

Thanks very much for the offer. I will pass on the tib D/L at moment as it would take some considerble time to download it at UK rural speeds usually around 4500MBPS. Also it would scortch the Hamster's feet all that running.
Have you any ideas on the misaligment reported in the test image I posted?
I have just downloaded the M6600-win7-A02-R314070.CAB from Dells server @ 1.1GB which say's it carries all the drivers. A reinstall will not be a major problem for me as most of my development is done in Virtual machines which of course is all backed up. I won't hold my breath as I don't think it will shutdown that much faster if any when I had the BIOS set to Sata Raid. I edited the msashi $ and set it to 0 as suggested by Microsoft Support when I switched to AHCI and the only problem I incurred was the drive arrangment which I switched the 512e to the boot and it was OK. My only aggravation is the shutdown time. It makes me wonder if it is worth the agro. I have a 256 GB SSD which I could install the OS and try that way. The only reason I switched to AHCI was because of having to assign a drive letter everytime I put in a USB External drive. Still there we go...

Yes. If you restore the backup image then you will be right back where you started.

If, when I get my new M6600, I simply start the computer and let things install automatically (or is it already installed and set up?) and then use the Acronis Transfer software that I got with my Crucial M4 drive, can I simply transfer this onto my new SSD and all will be good? This way I wouldn't have to install Windows from scratch and all the drivers and application software, etc.

Scott, is this what your image is basically? Or is the image you are referring to something different?

At last I have sussed the shutdown problem. I contacted Dell again and they suggested reinstalling Chipset drivers which I did but no different but she also suggested to go into safemode and out prior to installing. When I exited Safemode it shutdown in 2 secs. This put me on the trail, so I figured was it the anti virus. I am running AVG IS 2012. After much pratting around it turns out to be the AVG Identity Protection. It seems to affect some machines worse that others. Unfortunately AVG ageed with me but could not provide any solution to fix it. So anyway in the end whereas the system should shutdown in 20 secs it takes 45.

I am not versed in this so it could be a dumb q but does intel 500 relate with storage aka 500g or does intel offer a 512g ssd

I am shooting for the 2960xm so what are my limitations here I see you stated it was rated only as high as 1300 FROM A LATER POST so would 1600 work or run at 1600 and are you saying the 2960 is rated lower than the 2920 in this aspect

I think with the AMD gpu installed on the machine the bios automatically disables the iGPU so what we need is a bios mod to re enable it like with the Nvidia

is that pepper on your avatar a Jolokia or a trinidad scorpion ? :D
