Just to throw in, my 2820QM is working just fine after the A04 BIOS. Perhaps it's only the 2720, if it is BIOS related?

Looks like your extreme quad (2920XM) does 4 x 3.2 GHz. Can it maintain this over a period of time?

    My 2720 QM does a steady 4 x 2.8 GHz.

@LLavelle and RXWatcher, your clocks are exactly what they should be, no issues there.

@Polar99, your CPU is "locked" for some reason. I'd contact Dell.

You needed "Active Displayport" to DVI Adapter. I already went through that until I bought the "Active Adapter". Check out this post that is of the M4600, but it is the same.

AMD Firepro M5950: Without "Active Displayport Adapter to DVI" or "Displayport to Displayport" you can only connect 2 display when undocked. check out this post and the image below

    check it out

This information you gave us, clarifies things, I hope.

I think we always need an active apater, but I don't know. Just in case, I will buy them.

    Gook luck and share ;)

    Thanks Aikimox.

I have already contacted Dell. The first level tech support could not solve it. Now they have assigned it to second level tech support.

The good news is that I am not going crazy and my local IT are useless..

I have to concur with polar99 as I just noticed that A.04 also locks the 2720QM to 2.2 GHZ or the Power Saving Mode of 800 MHZ via HWiNFO64. I might have to flash it back to A.03 if this persists and I will get to that after Dell comes to my place on Monday to re-mend my chassis again.

I confirm that A04 limits 2720QM to 66% of its power - I downgraded to A03 and the CPU is immediately running up to 3.3GHz. The question is, will Dell release a fix in a form of A05.

I have the same problem like all others with 2720QM but I have BIOS A03.
I installed Windows 7 Ultimate x64 on my own.
What I noticed was that the CPU fan speed doesnt raise although I use Ultra Performance mode.
Most of the time the CPU doesnt even use 2200 MHz on heavy load at all!
The temperatures hit 100°C and are most of the time between 95°C and 97°C.

So why do I have the same troubles with BIOS A03?

You made my day. Thank you! :)
How did the BIOS downgrade go ? Did you simply install A03 ? Did you encounter any problems ?

I believe that in your case the temperatures are the problem. 100°C is too high. Try some different power profiles (the windows profiles) and always keep the air vents clear (aka remove any objects that might block them or place the laptop on a hard surface). If you still hit 100°C, I would contact Dell support.

I downgrade the BIOS to A03, Turbo is working again.
In "extended battery life" mode, the minimal CPU is ok (790/800MHz) and I get the 3.1/3.3GHz in Maximum perf.

    A04 is "bugged" so.
