    Yes agreed.

What I'm getting at is that eSata is not being treated as an external port (even with identical physical shared USB/eSata external port).

See previous (many) posts on eSata not working with external RAID HD (when M6600 BIOS is set to RAID).

I have the M6600 and want to buy a 1TB hard drive to install in the secondary drive bay (I have a 256 SSD in the primary). I was looking on the internet and wanted to know if anyone has bought one? I came across "Seagate Constellation.2 ST91000640NS 1 TB Internal Hard Drive" but don't know if this will fit?

    its measurements are:
    •Height: 0.58"
    •Width: 2.76"
    •Depth: 3.96"

what are the dimensions and other tech specs I should be looking for? I have figured out I need Sata 3

I dont think that a 15mm hard disk will fit in the caddy.

I need to be able to post PM, I also got my m600 with the "premium" Chi Mei panel.

So, other than the poor panel quality, this machine rocks.

I still think that a dell representative should be getting in touch directly to evey customer that bought a m6600 or at least, the company should make an official statement about this issue with the panels on the support page related to our machines.

Even when they are changing the panels when you contact them, they should take the inniciative, 'cause the fact is that we have received a horrible display that never should have been installed on our machines, that's their mistake.

But that just what I think :p

The eSATA compatibility will come from a new version of the Intel Rapid Storage Technology software. This assumes that Intel ever releases it.

Surely Dell and other PC companies must be putting huge pressure on Intel to fix this. High-end users with internal and external RAID end up with no usable eSata port.

This is not exactly minor and lawyers would have a field day hammering any company that advertized features without also making clear that eSata port is not available to hardware configurations that have internal and external RAID.

Dell has known this since M6400 and I'm sure other computer manufacturers have known this for some years.
