It is actually very easy compared to some other systems. You just need to make sure the proper areas along the LCD hinges and top of the keyboard bezel are protected when removing the LCD bezel and display panel.

By the way, my new M6600 arrived today as well and sure enough - another CMO display...

Back it goes.... Maybe I will use it to do a LCD swap guide first with some pics. :D

I've ordered two M6600's for work yesterday (delivery date is September 29th in Ireland if anyone is looking for EDD's in this area). I was just wondering if anyone in Europe has been able to succesfully force a screen replacement from Dell after getting Chi Mei'd. I'm paying over 2200 EUR per machine (excl. VAT) and I'm not going to accept a poor quality equipment, so I'm looking for some hints on dealing with the situation.

    Any hints greatly appreciated.

P.S. The part number for the display on the order is 230-11984.

As I'm in EU as well, Winger - I wonder what configuration you are getting for Euro 2,200?

Thanks Winger - our European prices are so much higher than US ones, on any high technology equipment :-(

I buy a lot of video stuff, and the prices in Euro are the same as they are in USD for US citizens - and that's before the VAT!

True... Nothing we can do really. I would get them in US was it not for the fact that I need the next day warranty in EU, any downtime causes major problems for my work.

Anyways, back to the topic, I wonder if anyone in EU dealt with Che Mei problem.

YES, I was that lucky one. :D

I was very happy to get rid of the pretty bad Chi Mei display.

I ordered quite the same configuration but without os, software and accidental damage protection service. I paid 1998 Euro/€ including VAT and shippment.

I bought 16GB RAM SAMSUNG 1600MHz (4x4GB) aftermarket for about 150 Euro/€ and installed my 160GB Intel Postville G2 SSD which I had already used in another notebook before.

I was succesfull too in makeing dell change my chi mei lcd. I complained abaout the blueish screen. Next day they changed it to LG. The lottery part is that you dont get promised what screen you get as replacement.
