With the issue of the 1920 x 1080 Non-touch screens possibly being some garbage Chi Mei display, has anyone gotten the touch screen?

If so, what make is it, and how does it compare to the non-touch LG or AUO screens for brightness, clarity, etc?

If that is what it takes to get a good quality screen, I may just have to bite the bullet and get the touchscreen.

Only thing is it goes against every instinct I have to NOT touch the screen. Other than cleaning it, my laptop screen never gets touched.

I hate fingerprints on my screen!!

If I buy an m6600 with only one hard drive, is it possible to buy a second hdd aftermarket and enable a raid configuration? Or do they not ship a raid controller unless you configure it with one?

The touchscreen panel I have is an AUO. It pretty much nails the sRGB color space. I posted measurements and pictures in my M6600 Owners Review.

You also have the option of waiting until the end of the month when the IPS screen becomes available. There have been no formal announcements, but plenty of "Nudge, Nudge, wink wink, Say no more" references around the forums.

Cool, just have to wonder what much more the IPS screen will be than either the non-touch 1920 x 1080 or the touch screen.

The reason I say that because I think I might have my wife talked into the 4000M video card upgrade with the touch screen if necessary, but if the IPS is significantly more, I doubt she would be willing to agree to spending more than $3300 all told.

Guess I will have to wait and see since I will not consider the non-touch screen for fear of getting a Chi Mei screen.

Thought about getting a LG or AUO aftermarket screen and swapping that in, but with my luck, something is bound to go wrong with the swap, and that would void my warranty.

Looking at the upgrade costs for the screens on the M4600 and M6600, it looks like the M6600 upgrades are around 20% more. Since the IPS screen on the M4600 is 449, I would guess 500-550 for the M6600.

What!? When did they jack the price up? My IPS was $370 when I ordered back in May, and I thought that was hefty enough.

Sometime during the summer. Perhaps you bought the M4600 when there wasn't a huge price jump..but ya as Bokeh said the upgrade to RGBLED IPS 1080p screen is 450 (550 from base HD 1368x768 screen).

Out of curiosity, how hard is it to swap out the display yourself in the M6600? I've never changed a laptop screen myself.

When the IPS screen comes out do you think it will be available aftermarket and able to go in to a M6600 that was bought without it? Or do IPS screen have a different connector/interface that you only get if you order the laptop with the screen factory installed?

If it is possible to do a user upgrade of the screen to the new IPS I would be sorely tempted to do that and skip the pain of trying to get them to replace my current Chi Mei.

Reloader-1, your m6400 specs still look good :) I would have kept it for a few more years (it outclasses the hp 8510p I replaced).
