Robotti80 did you get your screen replacement? What type is it? I hope you got LG or AUO.

    OK Guys...
After I forwarded my extreme displeasure (along with a few of yours) to Dell corporate today for their sending out CMO panels, I was offered to return the system for a refund, which I proceeded to do rather than spending the time/effort in updating the screen myself. Later this evening, I received an email from my corporate rep and was given an M6600 20% discount code that is STACKABLE on top of any/all other offers for me and my fellow NBR members who are in the USA and wish to "re-order" their M6600 for a lower rate and see if a better screen is included (which they still could not guarantee:rolleyes: ). So, with the current USA public discount offers in addition to this coupon, I was able to get a $1333 discount... yes, more than $1.3K! … - a $2900+ M6600 for $1768 delivered after California sales tax and recycling fee... plus I got another 2% rebate coming in 90 days from ebates.com, which was nice. :D

At any rate, this will help pay for a new panel if the one I just ordered shows up with a sub-par display again. The rep said Dell will keep the coupon active for at least another 36 hours, but again, he could not guarantee how long after that. He will try to keep it going until the end of the month. PM me for the info to get all the discounts I did if you're interested.

    Scott-:)

Well, I am glad to hear you got some satisfaction out of Dell.

Maybe if enough people raise some hell with them, maybe they will realize that trying to peddle some low grade monitors in higher end systems COSTS them more than they make initially off the price difference.

Hello Dell, yes I am talking to you, you stupid bean counters.

Try and mess people over and eventually it will come back to bite you in the end. :D :D

HP is starting to look better and better, even if I don't know who will be honoring any service work.

I MIGHT still get a Dell, only if they stop playing games with people. I will wait and see how this pans out.

Sorry, I did not forget you and this forum.
Everything was delayed yesterday, so the Dell technician did not appear until 5 pm. It was like to sit on coals!

    And now the good news:
The replacement display is an AU Optronics AUO B173HW01 v.5 // H8D3K v.5
I was so glad about this display and it is really a very good display no comparison to the Chi Mei. The Dell technician also said that he believes the Chi Mei display is not only bad but also defective. He would be interested to see a working Chi Mei display, he said. I do not!

Anyway I am happy and struggle has paid off.
Thanks to all of you for support and special thanks to Scott_RC-TEK for posting the codes for the AU Optronics display.

At last then you got the screen you should have gotten at the first time :)

jmthomas: The dell support was better then the hp in my country (before I had hp 8510p). Not that hp was bad, but it was slower.

    One could say so.

    This is absolutely correct.
Dell Service is much better than the HP and I know both.
Anytime I would prefer the Dell service although HP is not bad but not as good as Dell.

    Hi Scott,

Sorry I haven't noticed your post earlier - mine is the e-Port Plus rev. A04.

So it's even newer, and I really do not see any "compatibility" problems - just some interference on the VGA out signal, depending on the unit's working temperature...

Thought you guys might be interested to hear that I have:

    PHP:
    System Ship Date7/27/11
    Graphics Card
    AMD FirePro M8900
    Monitor
    AU Optronics [Unknown ModelAUO159D]
So the theory of the FirePro + CMO doesn't necessarily apply. As for my issue, I've just developed a period sound from a fan on the rear left side of the notebook. Anyone know what might be causing it?
