A little more than booting into BIOS.

I played Crysis 2, WoW, and Civ5 for hours.

I started having some stability issues which I thought were caused by the 580m so I uninstalled. Turns out it was Dell's data access drivers for the fingerprint scanner. (TMP)

When new thermal compound arrives I will re-install (probably this weekend).

Then can you post 580M settings (core clock, shaders clock, memory clock) as well as 3DMark11 and 3DMArk Vantage score ?
Also i am curious about which is the Fermi chip: is it GF114?

Got my M6600 couple of days ago. Installed SSD Crucial M4. The laptop is amazing, build quality looks and feels better than M6400 (that I own too). Speeds working with graphic programs and rendering are simply amazing. Don't know about gaming tho. It's rare for me to be happy buying new things (hard to impress me) but this time I feel so. So people who are hasitating don't wait :)

Seconded. It'd be awesome to know:

    Where you got your 580M?
How easy it was to install?

And once you've got it re-pasted...

    Temps
    3D Mark Score
Any other issues ie Optimus, Charging etc

580M in a M6600 is a perfect solution for professionals who took the machine for build quality / temps / performance but don't need the Quadro/FirePro for CAD / 3D rendering

    Also would a 480M or a 485M work?

Nothing really. Just leave 3D settings on "let the application decide". Maybe turn off vsync.

I decided to "explore" my M6600 today as I had a few extra hours. Very interesting inside. Also, it looks like Dell is using the AUO B173HW01 v.5 for its matte screen. Personally, I prefer the v.4 glossy version, which also offers a 90% color gamut and a little better contrast ratio so I may need to do the easy swap. The B173HW01 v.4 was used by Dell last year under the part number X919N.

Below is a few pics of the Nvidia Quadro 3000M heat sink. It looks interchangeable to me; at least between the 3000 and 4000 cards.

By the way, do you see the unused but very interesting [J]EDP just above the existing [J]LVDS port?? ;)

I tore down my M6600 today with help for our repair shop. It does indeed look like the heatsinks are identical.

The guys in the shop had never seen anything like the heatsinks in tye M6600. Pure copper evrywhere. Heavy, but effective.

Will get my pics posted in the morning.

Hey guys, is there somewhere a copy of the AMD FirePro m8900 VBIOS available?
Or can someone who has this card dump the VBIOS and upload it? (Dump with atiflash under DOS to prevent corruption)

Would be greatly appreciated! I want to see whether I can use it with my 6970m. (If this already has been tried by someone, or if it's known not to work, please let me know).
