    Hello everyone,

Very close to pulling the plug on an m4800. Anyone can point me towards any discounts I could use before placing my order? Also, does it help in anyway by doing the order over the phone with a rep vs doing it online?

    Let me know.

    Thanks in advance!

    Hey everyone,

I had dell tech guy came to change cpu and the dispatch didn't include thermal paste. So my i7-4800mq hit 80c max. I wonder what temp do you guys get with paste on cpu? thanks.

I cannot stress how important phoning up Dell is - you can get a discount from them if you use the right tactics (e.g. 'I can buy quickly', I've been offered a better workstation quote from HP/Lenovo/et al)

    Hi,
the m4800 I've bought 3 weeks ago from eBay is supposed to have 16 GB Dual Channel DDR3L 1866MHz Memory (4GB x 4), but when I check with HWiNFO I have 4GB modules with clock to 934MHz! I'm not a technical guy but this looks weird for me! Is this correct or wrong? Thanks!

    Nothing is wrong...

You're seeing the speed for each channel. Double it to get (approx.) the speed. My 1600MHz RAM shows up as 800.

im getting about 13-14 hours runtime using the internal 6cell and this 9cell slice. (you can get the slices on ebay for 50-75$ part # KJ321)

    Idarzoid,
May I ask if replacing the keyboard saved the problem? I have the same problem with the m4800. First I thought I have installed the wrong keyboard driver and it is a Linux problem (I have only Gentoo Linux installed now). However, also changing the keyboard model, variants, map did not change this strange behavior, that from time to time several "keyboard hits" are doubled randomly. This is really annoying.

Besides this obvious flaw I am really impressed by the notebook. Except the finger print reader and the HSDPA module everything seems to work. Ok, I have not completely worked out the "optimus" problem but only work with the intel graphic driver. However, it should work with bumblebee and several adjustments in the xorg.conf. At the moment, the notebook lasts for about 5h, using the battery (9 cells). If I am right, this is comparable to the windows energy saving and thus I am very pleased with the result.

Coming back to the keyboard flaw, I appreciate any help, you or anyone else can provide!
