    Yup.

VEN_8086 means it's something from Intel by the way, so even if it's not the Management Engine, it's something from Intel and that narrows your possibilities considerably. I'm 99.999999% sure that it's the management engine and that giorgioitaly is right though.

That's exactly what it was! Thank you! I didn't think of installing the management engine since I don't have vPro (at least I don't think I do).

Every CPU offered for the Precision line has vPro, notice how there are no i7-4700HQ offered or there were no i7-3630qm offered for the M4700, those didn't have vPro and such.

That's what I figured since all the warranties say, "after remote configuration"... which would indicate via vPro... having said that, you can choose to "buy" vPro for like an extra $15 here in the U.S. as an option, but I feel like it's more like letting it enable in the bios as it would be hardwired on to all machines.

That sounds not great but acceptable.

    Higher throughput?

    Cheers

Just snagged one of the wireless docks on eBay for $42. Hopefully it works well, but if not, at least it wasn't $270...

I'll report back once I've received it and had a chance to try a few things.

Killer deal...I got mine for $115 shipped. I'm pretty sure for $42, it's worth it. But don't expect much. It literally sucks. You'll have to be in a straight line of sight for it to be able to work around 12 feet away max. Otherwise you should get three feet max off axis as long as they're on level ground. I tried using mine from five feet through the window, and it only works when they're pretty much perfectly aligned. Hopefully when the time comes for me to use it for my application, it doesn't disappoint.

Maybe yours will be better binned than mine.

    I just received my M4800 today. :D

I had a Dell 1550 cnfigured. Although my wi-fi does not seem to switch on whatsoever! I am on RHEL 6.4.

And there seems to be a SIM slot just below the battery latch. Can see it when I remove the battery. But I had not configured it with a broadband card. I believe this is just a slot that will be used if I add a Mobile Broadband card? Am i right?

Yeah I've read several reviews and no one seemed too impressed. It sounds like the trick is to line things up so they work and then not move anything? I guess that's because of the beam-forming? I haven't yet decided whether I want to try and use the dock at home or at work, but we'll see.
