@ ssj92, @ alexhawker or any of the QHD+ display owners

Could you please be so kind and check if the 2 antenna cables are available to
connect a Intel AC-7260 or Dell 1550 WLan card ?

The cables of the WWAN an WLAN cards can be seen quite nicely on page 32 of the M4800 Owners manual

I've just been told by a Dell sales person that machines with a QHD+ display
have NO pre-installed antennas for an UMTS/LTE modem.

So do they expect us just to sit around in one place?
It seems to me Dell regards the M4800 with QHD+ display as a desktop replacement like one of those 18" monstrosities. If I wanted that, I could buy myself a Desktop Machine and a pair of nice 24" screens (well I have those displays already, but only for the time when I'm actually in my home office).

I'll have a pic up tomorrow when I install my caddy.

That doesn't sound right...When I installed my SSD, there were two antenna wires sitting there in the WWAN slot. So it seems you'd just need to buy the card. I'll post a pic later tomorrow when I install my caddy.

I really, really hope she told me BS.....

That would be great. I can't wait to see it.

Could you perhaps also post the specs of which options you had ordered?
    I'm planning to order:
    QHD+-Display
    NVIDIA Quadro K2100M
    i7-4900MQ
FIPS-Fingerprint Reader and Contact/Contactless Smartcard Reader
    Camera
    2x8GB (I'll add another 2x8GB later)
DVD - not Slot-in (will be replaced immediately by a caddy with hard drive)
cheapest possible hard drive (will be replaced immediately)
Dell 1601 (will be replaced immediately with an Intel AC7260)
    German Keyboard (backlit)
    4Yr ProSupport
    4Yr Accidental Damage

WWAN: I will add an DW5570 (bought as a spare part) as well. Manually, since Dell doesn't want to sell the Laptop with it build in. (And they don't sell the Gobi card at all in Europe according to my sales rep.)
I'm certainly not willing to buy a professional laptop that costs >>2kEUR and which is not able to have an WWAN device build in. I'd consider that a bad practical joke.

So now I am eagerly waiting for your report on the antenna leads and the picture....

Here's the picture, just as I remember. There are two wires that sit in the wwan slot. It would make no sense if there were wires, but there wasn't an antenna. So I will assume the antenna is in as well.

As for the caddy, it's great! Very nice design and the side looks perfect with it (bezel blends in). I got it from newmodeus. Highly recommended.

    As for my system specs:

    Intel Core i7-4800MQ
    8GB (2x4GB) 1600Mhz DDR3L Ram
    256GB Samsung 840 Pro SSD
750GB 7,200rpm HDD in optical bay caddy
    15.6" 3200x1800 IGZO QHD+ Display
    9-Cell ExpressCharge Battery
    nVidia Quadro K2100M
    Dell Wireless 1601 802.11n 60Ghz Wigig
    Windows 8.1 Pro
    3 Year NBD Basic support

I also bought the Wireless dock, separately from my order.

Seriously cool! Thank you very much. :)
So I can add the WWAN card myself.

Have you already tested how long the laptop runs on batteries ?

Yeah I got about three hours of battery @ 50% brightness and wi-fi/bluetooth on. About 45 minutes of that three hours was heavy gpu load so I think the battery life is decent.

Out of curiosity, any particular reason you want to replace the Dell 1601 with the Intel 7260?

Also for everyone else too, there's a driver I cannot get installed for some reason. I was wondering if someone can help me figure out what driver I'm missing.

In device manager it says "PCI Simple Communications controller" and the device id is: PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_8C3A&SUBSYS_05CC1028&REV_04

I tried every Windows 8.1 driver listed for the Dell Precision M4800, so have no idea what it could be.

I can usually get about 4 hours with only light internet use. Under load, it will obviously be a tiny bit less.

It looks like the driver you need is for the RAID controller.

That's the thing, I'm running under AHCI. And my AHCI driver is already installed. I tried installing the raid driver but it doesn't fix it. Here's a SS:

Try to install the driver "Intel Management Engine 9.x Components Installer", for me it worked.
