Removed RHEL 6.4 and got Fedora 19(due to habitual use) setup with dual boot Windows 7.

    Everything works fine on Windows.

    Linux Problems:

Have been facing some touch pad issues. It some times does not recognize the touch! Cant' find dedicated drivers.

Got Nvidia video drivers installed. Screen looks good but cannot set to a lower resolution(1920x1080)! Screen overflows! i.e. I can only see about 25~30% of a fully maximized window rest overflows out of the screen. If anyone was able to set this up properly, please share your xorg.conf. I believe this is a panning issue. Am I right?

And have not been able to find network drivers for DELL 1550.
    PCI ID : BCM4352

b43 and b43legacy says it's still not supported.

Broadcom BCM94352HMB with Chip 1: Broadcom BCM4352 says there is a driver available here Broadcom : Linux STA driver Although the readme says support for 4352(not BCM4352) has been added, trying to build a kernel loadable module gives a Error 2: no rule to make target 4352. Just indicates that DELL 1550's chipset is not yet supported which contradicts the readme file!

Has anyone has been able to find a linux network driver for Dell Wireless 1550 ?

    TIA

I figured that, but I thought I'd ask anyway. I have used (Symantec) Norton Ghost 15.0 (quite successfully) previously. I had stayed away from Acronis because it regularly got bad reviews on NewEgg.com and TigerDirect.com. Imagine my dismay, then, when I investigate today, only to find out that Ghost support ended in April of this year, and that remaining copies of Ghost 15.0 (which I previously paid $15 for on sale) are now $60 a pop and up.
I guess I'll wait for a sale on Acronis (which probably won't happen now that they are the main commercially supported cloning software).

I would love to know if anyone has had success using the Samsung software to clone a drive to a non-Samsung SSD...

    Thanks,

    Gerry Green

Thanks, but (my opinion) we really shouldn't have to go through those extra steps of yanking drivers from here and there. If we get Win 8 installation media (which one would hope wouldn't require getting drivers from here and there), we should get Win 7 as well (since it's included with the purchase of the M4800). My fault: I should have said "...cloning is the only reasonable way to get the Win 7 installation on an mSATA that I install myself ...". Thanks for the help anyway.

    Regards,

Anyone know if the expansion bay (DVD slot) is SATAII (3Gbps) or SATAIII (6Gbps)?

    From the Owner's Manual:

    "Optical Drive:
    Interface
    • SATA 1 (1.5 Gb/s)
    • SATA 2 (3.0 Gb/s)
    Configuration
supports ODD modules and Air Bay with SATA HDD option
    "

But mind you that this is immediately after it says that the mSATA slot is SATA 2, and Dell-Mano_G has indicated in another thread that it is actually SATA 3.

    Cheers,

    Gerry Green

    Oh, not so good.

i'm thinking of gettign a m4800 for to use with fedora, so

    problems, no wifi,
    no touchpad,
    no lower resolution, (QHD)
    no full screen. (QHD)

heres a li9nk to some ubuntu'er who have a workaround (sortof) for the wifi.
wireless - No way to connect to my wifi - Dell m4800 - ubuntu 13.10x64bits - Ask Ubuntu

the m4800 is also Certified Pre-Install for Ubuntu
Components in Dell Precision M4800>> it doesn't speak of the QHD screen on this page
Components in Dell Precision M4800 | Ubuntu

but the other parts (chip plus k2100 GPu) i've only seen on the m4800's with QHD. maybe the ubuntu guys know how to fix it or they never tried full screen

    umm.....

    Thanks for looking that up.

Only recently found out that my M4600 expansion bay was SATA II so I wanted to check before upgrading and figuring out my drive layout.

    Guess it's still nebulous!

Do you know if there is a proper driver for the QHD monitor? Because in the Device Manager it is simply written as "Generic PnP Monitor".
