M4800 Owner's Thread

The specs on the monitor mention HDMI 2.0 requirement for 60Hz display, which may translate to a Display Port 1.2 requirement. While the M4800 should work with it just fine, your docking station, I am not sure.

I'm not sure if the docking station has DP 1.2 like the newer USB 3.0 E-Port Plus docks...

You can always contact Dell and find out.

 

It should work fine with any docking station that has DisplayPort. The dock is just a port replicator, it's actually the guts of your machine that determine the DisplayPort version. (USB 3.0 requires new docks because USB 3.0 ports actually have more contacts than USB 2.0 ports.)

 

Oh yeah...I forgot about DisplayPort because I never attached my monitors that way. Just ordered the monitor and will see how it goes!

K2200M == 2GB version of M2000M?

 

For the M4800 and M6800???? The two computers use different type GPU cards, MXM 3 Type-A and MXM 3 Type-B cards, respectively.

Edit: I had Type-A and Type-B backwards

 

Are the mounting holes for A and B in different spots? To me it looks like they are in the same place, with the B type card just being longer.

This does look suspicious though, there's almost no information available online for a k2200m, and the only page I found for it lists a lower clock speed than what the m2000m is supposed to have..

That wiki page says that MXM B is compatible with MXM A as well though (table at the bottom). I know they are different lengths and a B card certainly won't fit in an MXM A laptop, but the placement of the mounting screw holes makes it look like an A card will fit in a B laptop.

 

The M4800 is a Type A card laptop. The M6800 is a Type A/B laptop, although I'm not sure if there is any specific BIOS requirement.
