    Just don’t forget to install only 16 GB at first, let BIOS recognise it, and then add the other pair.

    I have recalled something. At one time, I used a Vostro—only for meetings, and I would always recharge it before-hand.
    It would happen sometimes, though not very often, that, upon connecting power supply to the machine (often switched off at the moment), the battery light would turn orange (or blink orange, I am no longer sure) instead of the battery beginning charging. So I would disconnect and reconnect power, and the problem would go away and the battery would start charging.

    The important point here: I would normally do so using a switch on an extension cord; I would not disconnect and reconnect the power connector. Thence a hint for you: Your problem may not have anything to do with any play or wear in your connector. The connector doesn’t have to be at fault. It may be the battery, or something else.

    Since the Vostro wasn’t my property, I was never too concerned about that happening, I would just take it as an insignificant glitch easily overcome.

    Yeah, half then half. Unfortunately, I'll have to tire of my 1600s first coz I believed Dell & read the tip too late. Btw, has anyone tried Intel RST (Raid 0) for a msata and sata? I wonder how much faster that'll be than ACHI'd Samsung 840 EVO msata and sata, which what I'm using. Thx!

    I hope it works for you. I cannot confirm this setup myself, I’m just relaying what several others have posted here in the past.

    So, how do you use the Express Card slot? Is there something interesting I can use it for?

    I believe most people use it for a USB 3.0 card, in order to get more high speed USB ports.

    Hello;
    I just ordered my M4800 today & I have spent the last few hours reading this great thread. Thanks everyone for the mind-bending wealth of information!

    I am actually now worried that I made a terrible mistake with my choice for wireless card. I ordered the system w/the WiGig option (Dell Wireless card 1601 2x2 802.11n+BT+60GHz (WiGig)) because I figured WiGig may end up being deployed in the next few years for more than wireless charging (for "wireless HDMI" sort of applications). I only recently even heard of WiGig. Please forgive my clueless-ness.

    So to have WiGig, I order a card that supports only 802.11-n wifi, not 802.11ac (5 GHz). I figured that if WiGig goes nowhere and I don't ever get the wireless port, I can always swap the card for a different one supporting -ac later on. But reading this thread, I now fear that:

    a) The M4800 w/the WiGig-compatible config may not have the right antennas to support 5 GHz regardless of the card installed
    b) the "BT" in the description of the card may NOT be Bluetooth 4.0?

    Can anybody comment? I may be able to change the PO if I cat soon enough. Thanks in advance!

    Another question from the Newbie cloud:
    I was told that v-pro is meant for IT management remotely; to be used by IT groups. As an end user I would have no use for it. so I didn't order it w/my system. Was that a mistake? If you are your own IT person, especially if you're dreadfully unqualified for the job: what could you need vpro for?
    feel free to digress!

    you won't regret the wigig function. I thought I would not use it or that it would be unstable. I've had great results and use it often connected to my big screen tv working from the couch.
