Optimus works just fine after the upgrade. Going to k2100m will certainly require custom driver and I see no reason for the upgrade not to work.

Quick question. Can I install the w530 screen in the m4700? Non IPS screen on the Dell is crap and the one in the Lenovo is the best TN fullhd screen you can get.

Custom driver? Who makes custom drivers for windows for the M4800? (anyone in the community?)

Not sure if it uses the same ribbon cable connection, I was looking to see on ebay if they sold the panel only(rather than the assembly) and wondering their return policies to try it out. Never heard of anyone doing it on here though.

New 15 6" WUXGA Matte LCD LED Screen for IBM ThinkPad W530 | eBay

They have a 30 day return policy with a 20% restocking fee on non-defective items. For what it's worth, just passing a long, but I have no idea if it'll work.

On a side note, does anyone know if the wifi antenna on the M4700 is the same for both the intel 6300 and the Dell based one? I figured that the antenna is the same for either one since it's integrated into the LCD display, but wasn't sure if they had more than one antenna configuration. Either way, I was thinking about upgrading to the Intel AC 7260, but if one of the other ones came with a better antenna then I should probably consider getting the better antenna.

I installed one AUO panel with the Lenovo part number on it and works fine. Anyways good luck buying one AUO V.4 whitout any single dead pixel. I had to buy three to different sellers before finding one.

Maybe that is where Dell is getting the LCD screens they are sending me... My original screen had a stuck pixel, then the replacement they sent had 4 dead ones, then they shipped a new computer and it has a stuck pixel too. I reported this issue 2 months ago (almost to the day) and I still do not have a 100% working LCD screen. So much for my Next Business Day warranty.

Can anyone comment on the acoustics of this laptop since the new A10 bios was released in October... any difference? Is it any quieter?

I saw notebookcheck's review of the M4700 and M4800 and surprisingly the M4800 was more quieter on general loads due to a new algorithm I'm guessing... constant low medium fan speed, rather than low and then high speed cycles. I also noticed how the M4800 is thicker and heavier than the M4700 by slight margins which probablymeans there were some slight refinements in engineering.

I have noticed something interesting with my M4700.
I have upgraded the graphics card from a K1000m to a K2000m (and installed an AUO v4 lcd FWIW) and when running Furmark, it tells me that the native frequency of the GPU is 745Mhz, but it is throttled to 610MHz. I have used Arctic Silver heat sink paste in place of the stock goop, and I don't ever see temperatures over 62 degrees C or so at all.
I have Optimus disabled and have a 180w power supply as well.

Does anyone know what's going on and how I would go about getting rid of the throttling? I want some more FPS in Skyrim! :D

Other than that, this laptop has been fantastic.

There were cases that desktop gpus throttled regardless of temps when running furmark. As a fail safe, nothing more. Not sure if it same thing in yoir case.

Hmmm. I'll have to try another benchmark tool to see if it does the same. I'll get a monitoring tool too and see what the frequencies do when I'm actually playing.

Out of curiosity, where did you get the K2000 from? And, how do you find the overall fan noise of your new system?
