    Maybe I should say its a BIOS limitation instead of a hardware limitation. But there are no settings to change that will allow it to run on the Intel GPU while the M4000 is installed. I doubt Dell will make any attempt to address this at this point.

    That's discouraging... makes it harder for me to pick... only K1000 and M4000's left... the K1000 is weaker/slower yet costs more... but Optimus will let me switch graphics. It's a darn shame the M4000 doesn't allow this. I'm almost ordered last night.

    BTW, how's the built in webcam on the M4700's? Worth getting or should I skip it?

    Not sure about the one on the 4700, but the one on the M4800 is pretty bad, based on the one time I used it.

    Assuming it's the same as the one on the M6700... It's decent but by no means spectacular. Pretty good image if your environment is well lit. Otherwise, pretty grainy. Gets the job done for the occasional video conference, if that's something you might want to do pick it up, otherwise, no need.

    Thanks for heads up, sounds pretty similar to my thinkpad's webcam, horrible in lowlight but I guess it gets the job done. I don't want to carry around a spare webcam, so I guess I'll get it.

    @alexhawker, I saw that in the M4800 thread, prompted me to wonder if the M4700 was that bad too.

    @ssnova, as Aaron said, it may be decent with better lighting - the one time I used it was at a friends apartment, which wasn't that well lit, so it will probably perform better in a more office-like environment.

    Just posting a screenshot of how I can switch my GPU's on my Radeon... for you M4000 users, you don't have this option? :

    power switching GPU.jpg

    I know.. I keep asking, I just can't get over it...

    This was done my AMD(ATI, since mine's older) GPU on my thinkpad T500... I'm just perplexed.

    @alexhawker, thanks for the headsup.

    M4700 only supports switchable graphics with NVIDIA GPUs.

    Just a quick note for people interested in swaping a M4000 to K2000m the heatsinks even though they have different part numbers they are the same.

    Thanks good to know.. haha, at this point I'll probably be looking at K2100m's, but no one's ventured out there yet I guess.. wonder if they have the same heatsink design(I'm guessing no, but who knows).

    Will the mobo still support optimus even though I'd be coming from an M4000 original configuration?

    @Aaron, gotcha, thanks, guess I gotta get over it. :\
