I think w530 use the wide gamut, m4700 is sRGB panel.

A lot of us go this route. Upgrading the internal drive is easy. Two of the RAM slots are under the keyboard so they take a little more work to get to, but it's not a big deal. The instructions are in the manual which is available at the Dell support site. (You have to remove the keyboard trim, like five screws to get the keyboard out, and then there they are.)

I don't see any reason not to max the RAM at 32GB if you have the funds available. But you certainly don't need to pay what Dell asks for that.

If a 256GB SSD drive is good enough, then I would also suggest going mSata as the boot drive, an running frequently used programs

Than you can keep your standard drive for data, etc

    Hi everybody!

I hope you could help me.
I need to return my M4700 to factory settings (windows do not work). And found a big problem.
I tried to use F8 after reboot to launch recovery utility and nothing happens. My laptop has a recovery partition, but it seems to be not working. According to threads Iin dell forum it looks like M4700 HAS NO RECORERY PARTITION.

Could you tell me if it true and how cn recover my laptop.
    Thanks a lot in advance

I've been looking into getting an M4700, and it looks like there are a lot of complaints about the standard FHD screen on here (which is all that's available now in 1080p). However, I'm getting this for CAD work, and not anything color sensitive. Is the display at least comfortable to use and does it have reasonable viewing angles?

Also, I see a fair number of people that recommend the Quadro K2000M, but the FirePro M4000 actual stands up to it, or even surpasses it in a lot of the benchmark tests I've looked at. While the Quadro seems to beat the FP by a significant margin in benchmarks using a few specific CAD programs, it doesn't seem worth a full $200 extra overall. Is there something I'm missing here?

Apart from the tasks where Quadro pulls ahead, the advantages Quardo has over FirePro is optimus support and arguably better driver support. (Though I had more issues with Nvidia drivers in a week than I did with AMD drivers in a year)

If you're going to be doing a lot of CAD work, go with Quadro.

As for the display, I have a non-IPS full HD display and it's one of the finest display I've seen, viewing angle is decent. (This is on a M4600, I'm certain M4700 uses the same screen.)
