So no IPS screens for the 6700 because the 6800 is coming out.

    I have a 17inch 2011 macbook pro
    ~16gb of ram
    ~1Gb of video
    ~2x 7200 rpm 500gb hard drives.

A little laundry soap got inside it a few years ago.. Took a wet rag to get that crap out. Then a few months ago I had a random battery charging problem were it would charge and cut off at random and unplugging the mag safe on the laptop and plugging it back in was not good enough. You had to unplug the whole thing from the outlet you were using and then plug it back in. I read online to reset the smc and did that a few times with no luck then I just unplugged the battery. I was cool with that because I always have it plugged in. But I did the reset smc one last time and then the computer starting going really slow on everything. So I paid cash for a new laptop and I am going to blow rounds in this one with my a r15.

I want to come back to windows anyways for alot of reasons. I have a win 8 and Win 7 dvd. Going to reformat to 7 when i get it.

    Total was $3,556 bux.

    1920x1080
    32gb of ram
mini boot ssd or something and a normal 256gb sad. Both are 256gb
    2gb of video
    2.8ghz processor.

I have never had a 15.6inch before and I got to play around with someones 15.6inch from another company just so i can see screen size and what stuff looks like on a 15.6inch. His was a lower screen res but it looked fine to me so I am sure i am going to love mine.

Yes i can get the ram and drives cheaper other then dell.

    1. I do not feel like taking the keyboard off on day 1 when i get my laptop.
    2. I got 3 years warranty all around and had heard SSD drives fail and lose speed over time.

I can't call dell because I am working offshore right now so could someone tell me if you can upgrade to 5 years as long as you are still under warranty? Anything I should know about the laptop before I get it?

PS- calling dell after you get your item and telling them you want to rma it so you can save a few bux is F-up. I placed my order over the net i did not care about coupon codes.

If you upgrade from the 1366 x 768 to the FHD display you need to replace the cable as well, I upgraded mine and found that out for myself.

    Hi,

I'm wondering if it's possible to replace the quadro with a faster geforce like a gtx 660m ? The cpu performance is great but I'm quite disappointed with the k2000M. I don't really care about the quadro certification, I've been using maya for a long time with a geforce with no problem.

    Thanks a lot!

Unfortunately options are limited for the M4700. It uses a MXM 3.0a slot for the graphics cards, and most of the "beefier" graphics cards available (including any recent GeForce that I can find) use the larger MXM 3.0b form factor, which is generally only available in 17" systems (like the M6700). Quadro K2000M is about the best you're going to get from NVIDIA (not sure about AMD).

However, since the slot is standard and you can stick in any MXM 3.0a card that you want as long as it fits with the heatsink, you'll be able to upgrade to something better when future cards become available. You'll be stuck on the low end of each generation, though.

    Hey guys,

I'm considering buying a m4700 soon. Here is my http://forum.notebookreview.com/what-notebook-should-i-buy/723605-need-advice-new-machine.html post about it.

Could some owners share few experiences of their own in similar to mine situation/needs? Any of you guys switched from Thinkpad W/T to m4700? How do you guys like it?
Any advice on upgrading SSD and RAM - i was thinking about getting min hdd and min RAM and then replacing hdd with ssd Samsung Pro 840 for example, or maybe there is smthg better and throwing at it 16/32, most likely 32.

Any insights, experiences, advices are greatly appreciated,
    Thanks,
