I think I might've fixed it. I had excellent signal so I knew that it wasn't a distance issue and had tried everything else I could think of so I tried a bigger hammer (different drivers) and after a couple tries... lo and behold...! I am now getting 100+ Mbps on the network I was having problems with limited connectivity. That network I don't own and Crunchy had no issues connecting to so I knew that it wasn't the router(s) that was the source of the issue.

Now I just have to wait for everyone to come back so we can try playing wifi wars to see if the different driver has solved the router-hogging on my home network. Here's to hoping!

Yep. Router pig has been fixed. So all that from a driver not working right. Yeesh. It figures that just after I say something I figure out how to fix it.

What is the size of the optical caddy bay slot? Is it for 7mm or 9.5mm drives? I would like to buy the SSD drive before the laptop arrives (placed an order on friday) but I am not sure if I need to buy Samsung 830 in version with "Driver Spacer for 9.5mm drive bays" (LINK)? There is also version without additional accessories (LINK) which I am using in my desktop and is a lot cheaper to get.

Well, good news for people who want to touch their laptop screen; doesn't really help for people who want accurate color on it, though.

Yes, sorry, I thought I'd be clear enough when I said that it's "inactive & not configurable by anyone".

I really tried my very best to get the M4700 reconfigured with the IPS for a month or so, even with the suggestion to install the IPS screen from my M4600 (even though I had some serious noticeable corner tint) into the M4700, but it just wasn't possible. So eventually I had to go with the M6700 with IPS screen, despite it's size and extra weight.

Could anybody explain to me please the difference between the Internal English Backlit Dual Pointing Keyboard for Windows® 8 (which is $12.92) and the Internal English Backlit Keyboard (which is $33.32) ?
Isn't the keyboard with the "dual pointing" option supposed to cost more ?
Is there any hidden catch here?

Sorry for double-posting, but first time I posted my question in a wrong forum thread

No need to apologize, you were quite clear. But I thought (hoped) that meant an ordinary member of the public couldn't configure it using the web interface. And that an anxious-to-please-large-customer Dell rep would have access to other options.

Maybe that was foolish optimism on my part.

I sure hope this is not true. I just ordered an M4700 -- highest possible specification so kind of expen$ive -- after being repeatedly assured by by two Dell technical manager that there are _no_ plans to offer a touch panel with the 4700. They told me they had checked with product managers and were confident this option would _never_ be offered. Based on this I spent almost $4K on this system. I will obviously be unhappy if it turns out they were uninformed or less than truthful.
