You can only have one mSATA drive. If you want two SSDs and a HDD, one of the SSDs will have to be a regular 2.5" drive, and you'll have to install an optical drive bay caddy to connect one of the 2.5" drives.

Viktor123, the point is that you have three "slots" for connecting the hard drives to. The first one is the mSATA port which can be used for WWAN 3G modem or for the small factor SSD drive (and it is already used in your scenario). The second one is the SATA port which is used (only?) for a hard drive and depending on the laptop model need a hard drive of specific size (2.5" or 1.8"). The height here is also very important (7 / 9 / 12 mm). The last port is also SATA port and is in very common configrations used by the optical drive. In m4700/m6700 models it can be replaced by the special bay which has a place for a hard drive (after that you will not have optical drive in your laptop but you will be able to switch when you need it).

Summarizing, yuo cannot place the secong mSATA drive as there is no place for it.

I'm pretty sure some mSATA to SATA adapters exist too in the form of a caddy that has a 2.5" form factor where you can screw your mSATA drive. If you can find one, you could still use that mSATA you ordered if you haven't returned it yet.

    Dear all.
    I received my M4700
    with the i7 3820
upgraded to 32GB from Crucial 1600mhz
crucial msata 256 GB drive with Windows 8 OS
    1920x1080 FHD anti glare screen
    Quadro K2000M 2 GB

and I am happy with it. I saw that the drivers on the dell website seem a little old and I was wondering whether you generally download the latest chipset drivers directly from intel. If so, which drivers do you choose?

    Thanks

I usually install the latest version available on Intel's website. That said, Dell has the latest version, chipset drivers don't get updated that often. They have to be as stable as possible given how critical they are.

Hello, me again! I got my Precision but the wifi has been giving me fits. You would think that getting the Intel 6300 would be a good thing but I have had nothing but problems trying to get it to work.

I can't seem to get more than 10-13 Mbps out of it. On one network it only gives a stubborn "limited connection" warning and on the other, while I can connect, with a slow, slow connection, I run into wireless hogging issues. Somehow, despite not actually doing anything with the connection, it is very noticably dragging the network down if there is another device connecting to the internet. I've tried a couple different settings but I'm not sure what to do about it since nothing has worked.

I didn't buy this laptop to have to connect it to Ethernet if I want to be connect to the internet unless I want to be stuck at a crawl, if I can connect at all. :(

How far are you from your AP and have you tried connecting to another router just to help narrow down the issue. You cna also open it and make sure the antennas are properly connected.
