well i don't have the laptop any more. gave it to pops. i forgot to take a pic of supports i made for the U3 cooling pad to keep it from sliding down, but i took the pic of it inside the 1495 case.

so this is my last pic of my baby.

this case probably would be perfect size for M6700.

Perhaps I'm not the brightest bulb in the house but I only see 2 options for displays. The 1366x768 and the FHD 1920x1080. Where is the IPS option??

did you select Nvidia graphics ? only Nvidia graphics can come with IPS.

by the way i didn't realize this is Mano G:

Dell Precision Mobile Workstations : Technical Review - YouTube

heh, Mano i am sorry bro, you seem like a nice guy. i imagined you differently. i should have been nicer.

nice presentation by the way ! except for that part about dual fans sitting on one heat pipe - but that is indeed a perplexing design - we couldn't even agree with Bokeh on what the **** is going on there :)

    Add the fingerprint reader.

I believe its to help if one fan fails. The heat will always go to the coolest spot. That way one part doesn't burn up.

Thank you. But why do I have to add the fingerprint reader to get a better screen? Perhaps I do not want a fingerprint reader.

    :/

How much of a discount have y'all been able to negotiate on the M4700? I've been quoted prices on 2 different builds, and the cheaper build had a 3.9% discount over web price while the more expensive build was a 6.7% discount. I'm also purchasing for a local government, so I'm continually routed to the same salesman.

There are currently some limitations on how you can configure both the M4700 & the M6700. Currently the minicard requires a 2.5" HDD or SSD and the RGB panel currently requires the fingerprint reader and NVIDIA GFX. These limitations will be lifed by the end of Sept.

Which is why I posted lots of pics of the M6700 for people to see how the piping was done :)

Once I have an M4700 on site, I will try to borrow it for a few days.

    where are the wi-fi / bluetooth antennas in the M4700 / M6700 ?

i have posted pictures of the aluminum stand that i placed the M4700 but only now it occurred to me that because the stand is conductive and covers entire bottom of notebook it may have an effect on wireless signal strength.

am i shooting myself in the foot with the aluminum stand ? sorry i don't have the computer with me any more to test the signal level.
